I would love to see the I.D. Buzz come out but I have seen too many microbus concept cars from VW to hold my breath for this one as well. Plus, I noticed the tailgate incorporates the rear bumper - I have read from many experts that is a huge design flaw/defect.

Seems this is the new norm. Model Y is such a vehicle. Also, Tesla is about to make Model Y in one casting mold. Big question is how do you repair such a vehicle when in an inevitable collision? Do you replace the whole outer shell of the Y?

Things we can expect over the Model Y:

• Apple Carplay / Android Auto (w/o a $10 charge to use media and map options)
• CCS supercharging
• Heated steering wheel
• Instrument cluster
• Heads-up display
• Federal $7,500 tax rebate
• German fit / finish
• Nationwide dealership service

I don't expect it to be a Tesla killer, but competition is good and EM is very competitive.
Maybe we will see a CCS adapter and Carplay / Auto support finally. I will be first in line for the LR AWD version.

In my opinion I would spend the extra 8-10k to upgrade to a Tesla just for their technology and track record. There sales is proving this since a higher percentage of their buyers are moving up from Hondas and Toyotas.

That's pretty much how all other ev competition to Tesla should be seen as.

There are a bunch of compelling alternatives to Tesla coming like the ID4, the Fisker Ocean, etc..

Even the current Tesla competitors have proven they either can't make as many due to battery constraints or just do not sell well.

At this point people should need to see the car on the road to even consider it.

It's the frame that's being cast. Damage in a collision would be just as expensive as the current multi part frame. If the frame can be straightened at a body shop on a frame jig, one piece is likely to be better.

$40K is reasonable for a RWD SUV/Crossover EV, now factor in the up to $7.5K Fed tax credit and it's actually quite decent pricing. If the AWD variant comes in at $45K it may sell quite well.

Too bad 0-60 time sucks at 7.8 sec....

VW is new to the electric market, and I would discount any offerings significantly based on the lack of a track record. If you want AWD and the latest in safety and AutoPilot functionality, I don't think you want a VW. Besides, it looks like an ICE car.
