AP decision

Is there something preprogrammed in AP that helps it make decision in the following scenario (for those with just AP not Navigation on AP)

You are on the highway with AP on and the lane that you are in is the corner lane and splits into two lanes (one exiting and one continuing on the highway).
Which lane does the vehicle choose?

I generally have NoA on so am not real familiar with that behavior.

But that’s a great example. That’s exactly the kind of scenario that would give me an ulcer if I was a Tesla developer.

I guess the software could decide to continue on the highway (one would assume that the driver would disengage AP if they wanted to exit), but what if the lane exits into two different highways? We have a few highway exits here that exit into two different highways which is very common in North America. (should it just default to the right lane? or the left lane?) Was curious so asked

I have a FSD LR AWD Model 3. In that circumstance my car would continue straight on the current freeway... unless I had navigation on and I needed to exit to stay on my route, then the car would exit to the right.

Cool.. but there can be scenarios where your lane exits into 2 different highways

I have pass this type of exit on my way home from work. Straight continues on one interstate. Right goes to another. AP (without NoA) continues straight.
