APEX 18” and 19” EC-7 Mustang Wheels

There is a group buy going on for the Apex EC-7 wheels. Apex are well known manufacturers for track day wheels and are used by many enthusiasts. I have confirmed with them that they will fit P3D+ and clear the rear caliper with plenty of space. You can pair these wheels with 265 40 18 tires or 275 40 18 tires with a 3mm spacer. The representative that I spoke to said the barrel clearance is almost as good as stock 20" wheels.

which Konig wheel are you looking at? I've been trying to verify that they would clear the P3D+ rear caliper but no solid proof yet.

Discount Tire has a 18" option for the P3D+ and shows that the Konig Ultraform will fit, but they only show the 8.5" and 9" wide options.

I was thinking of going with the 19" wheels to get more options in 9.5" wide wheels, Ampliform, Dekaform, Rennform. I assume that any reasonable 19" wheel will fit over the rear brakes, particularly if the 18x9" ones fit.

That's why I'm excited about these Apex wheels, because they're 18x9.5 with the correct offset, plus all the other things they advertise. The Konig wheels are about the same weight or slightly lighter (the ones I listed above.)

Konig are very optimistic on their wheel weight and I don't trust it unless I see it on a scale. I've gotten a wheel from them before that's 1.5lb more than advertised.

The Ultraform barrel design looks like it would fit.

19 inch has better wheel selection but worse tire selection for track. If it's a daily then no issue.

Konig are owned by the same company that owns Enkei my understanding is that Konigs are made in the same Enkei factories. They are so affordable that why not buy the set and try it out and if doesn't with the big calipers return them.

I used to have some Konig wheels when I had my 600whp WRX and I had them for many years and never had issues.

Any idea on hub fitment with these Apex wheels? They seem to be made for the Mustang which normally isn't a problem but we have that stupid lip on the hub.

Hub is not a problem since it is 70.5. I did some test fitment over the weekend.

It should. Barrel clearance is around 17 10/16 inches and the BBK from MPP only need around 17 inches to clear.

What about 265 35 18 tires? RE71R doesn't come in 265 40 18

You can use Nitto NT01 265 40 18 or 275 35 18. Advan A052 also have the above sizes. There are probably the two best DOT track day tires. If you daily tires you can try Potenza S007A.

For the RE-71R, I was thinking I'd do 255/40/18 for this size wheel. The others are more dedicated to dry weather. I'd plan on daily driving mine. I'm still on the fence about these wheels. I'm trying to get a friend with a Mustang to contribute to the order.

Just submitted my interest for the 18x9.5 ET35 in Satin Black. Did not select tires or TPMS. Figured I can do that on Tire Rack if the deal goes through. Went with 100-250 off. At least that way its like I get them tax free.
