Appreciate The Tesla Process for Ordering a Car

Just went through the process of ordering a GM Volt for my wife. Wanted specific colour and options. What a pain. Found the car we wanted, but without the interior colour scheme we would prefer, after multiple phone calls. Compared to just picking out every exact option that we wanted on the Model S, and getting the exact car in every detail we wanted, by picking and choosing on a website, the dealership system of the mainstream car companies really leaves much to be desired.

Ordering a Tesla is fantastic. Easy to read website, easy to create an account and place a deposit. I even laughed when a generic subject line of "Thank you for your order" appeared in my inbox! Way better than the back-and-forth with the salesperson and their "manager" in the back room, or the lame quad-chart sales approach from the 1960s.

But 8 days post-order, I have to admit "obtaining" a Tesla has yet to impress me. Post-order support is lacking, at least in AZ.

Don't quite understand, 8 days post order, would not your Tesla be in the process of being built and you have to just wait for it? Are you ordering a new one to replace your 2014?

My big problem is the slow build out of SC's. When the put a SC on their map to be built in 2015 and it takes until Sept 2016 it irritates me. The same thing with their "to be built in 2016" SC's. I would rather they not get ones hopes up only to disappoint.

All that being said. The car itself is a dream. I would never buy any other car for myself. My wife now ..... she needs the psychological back up of the gasoline in the Volt, even after over a year and a half of our Model S.

Ah I see your confusion. Right as I started looking for a CPO car, a 2014 P85D showed up as an inventory car and I put my deposit down last Friday. It's my first Tesla, it's sitting in California and the website quoted a "14 day delivery available". They may or may not hit that target. But my delivery specialist doesn't impress me, as she isn't very candid or forthcoming, and I'm more than a little irritated that I have to pay both a destination fee and transport fee (See my other thread).

That clears it up.
