Just curious... Which RV park?

By Cliff Casino. There are two parks on each side of highway and one by Casino is really far inside and nothing is in walking distance from this place. Round trip from highway to park to highway is about 20 miles and each miles matters a lot.

I thought about charging at Anthem outlets but they going up north, doesn't offer much value. Blink chargers are slow and RV park offer more value (charge) for your time. I recommend calling in first and asking if you can charge and how much.

I just had a pleasant chat with Jerry at the Cordes Junction RV park. They have regular NEMA 14-50 outlets and he is amenable to Tesla owners utilizing them. Tentative charge will be $10/hr. Be sure to bring your cable(s). Perhaps a Phoenix or Tucson area owner on their way up to Flagstaff, the Canyon, or points north could stop in for a try-out and report back. There is a 50's-themed diner on site that would obviously be a nice place to grab a coffee or a bite to eat while charging. Jerry actually has relatives working at the Fremont plant and is more than nominally familiar with the car (i.e., he wants one).

While it's not a supercharger, this option should make travel from the south to Prescott, etc., a lot more convenient, especially for anyone (like myself) with a 60.

Yuma AZ.. no progress on the construction site as of early AM today 10-28-13. The permit was approved on 9-20-13. Yuma City Hall IS the best resource for info.. they still have the permit! The construction crew must have other jobs ahead of the supercharger installation. I'm sure it is coming soon, just never soon enough for us owners:)! Yuma City Hall and the Hilton Garden are just blocks from each other..5 minute walk. I see over on TM that only 3 are under construction... hummm.... I'll bet there are more we just do not know about yet:(. Personally I'm focused on the Buckeye, Blythe, Indio and Ontario, the Phoenix AZ supercharger connection to L.A., The Bay Area, and Vancouver, B.C. The Yuma supercharger will make San Diego effortless in an 85 sooo maybe that will have to be my California route until the AZ-CA Interstate 10 corridor opens up to supercharging. I'd really like to see the "Ocean to Ocean" interstate 10 route open in 2014. Gateways to Texas, Florida and the interstate 95 corridor! ......... well,... all in good time! Tesla Supercharging network thread for major postings!!

Thanks for the updates! I agree an RV park is much better than the Blinks. But having them confirmed working/available/allowed to be used is the key. Otherwise, you can find yourself stuck on a proverbial island. Knowing they are working and EV-friendly means a lot.

I was present at the "Drive Free" event in San Francisco Ca today. I was told that the Quartzite AZ Tesla Supercharger was under construction and will be the first one to go 'live' in Arizona. I won't be able to travel there and take pictures for weeks. Sooo anyone traveling through that area please take pictures and post. I apologize that I did not get the address of the location. Looking a the map, a good location would be I-10 and 95... near Carl's Jr., Burger King, McDonald's and the Huge truck stop near that location. 'Good hunting' fellow supercharger hunters!!

GOOD place for a Supercharger. But... Dang, I am going through there next week. I will pull off and take pictures if I find it, but I guess I will charge at Chiriaco Summit. I bet it won't be ready by the time I need it, but I will definitely check

With the Farmington, NM Supercharger anounncement and the upcoming Elon Winter road trip, Arizona may be the real sleeper in the Supercharger rollout. Keep your eyes open, you Zonies may have wonderful paths to Southern California and Colorado ski mountains in a few months.

I want to do the Colorado to Southern California road trip this winter with my son. The first route may be backtracking the Elon trip rather than the more obvious I-70 to I-15 route. Keep your eyes open, wide...and let us know what your see...

Appreciate the info... But for FYI, MarkR started a dedicated AZ Supercharger thread...

If there will be a supercharger in Quartzsite, there will not be one in Blythe - the two are close.
Aside from the California people wishing for a California supercharger, the dot on the Tesla Supercharger page for Winter 2013 always showed the dot on the Arizona side. And there's still a dot near Buckeye for Winter 2013 on the Tesla map. That's the one I need if driving up from Tucson. If the CHAdeMO adapter is available sooner, there are charging opportunities between Tucson and Phoenix.

I think some folks here (MarkR, Kishdude) got their cars last Dec and had few chilly wintery days with car. This is my first winter with Model S and so far I am not that impressed with heating. I have 60kwh and no tech package. Few things I noticed
1. Energy loss is much greater when running heat then with AC. I drove 12/30 miles on local streets (avg 45mph) and my rated miles went down by 25/55. This happened on Sat and Sun night respectively.
2. Defrost takes forever and is not very effective. Rear being more ineffective then front. How many miles one has to drive before it defrosts kicks in?
3. Heating (even at 80 degree) doesn't blow hot air as compared to other cars. I don't have heated seats.
4. Haven't tried this yet - If I turn "climate on" from my cell app, will it pre-heat and defrost the car?

Just wondering what others are experiencing and if this is something get looked at or it is normal.

I just drove yesterday from Pinetop to Tucson. Started at 7300 elevation, 34º and snow and arrived at 3300 elevation and 48º. I do this trip all the time in warm/hot weather and yesterday my Wh/mi were not that different than what I get at other times. I have to say, though, that my Wh/mi have fluctuated about 10% during this year traveling to/from Tucson & Pinetop. Plus, I have just had my 21" Continental wheels/tireas swapped out for Aero wheels with Michelin Primacy tires, which have helped some with energy usage.

I think the key to all of this, however, was that I preheated the car for 30 minutes (which also warms the battery pack) before leaving. The car was toasty warm and I set the temperature to 70º. I charged to about 95% which normally gives me full regen, but due to the cold weather, the battery pack was probably still not fully heated and regen was limited to about 30kWh for the first 10 miles or so.

Since the car started in a 50º garage, there was no need for defrost, but you cannot control the front or rear defrosters from the app. You just have to hope that the preheating will heat the windshield enough. I also have the defrost vent upgrade since my car was an early delivery. I did not have any fogging during my entire trip and the climate control was set to auto. I remember that in February, before the defrost vent kit update, I had significant windshield fog buildup after having driven a while.

In February, this year we got some snow here in Tucson and my wife and I took the Tesla out for a spin to try out the "winter" driving. I remember the heat kicking in and when I set it to 80º to clear the windshield, a lot of hot air was blowing everywhere. As I said previously, I didn't have the vent upgrade at the time. To get you in the winter mood, here is a short video clip I made at the time as we were leaving our neighborhood:
