Tesla cashed our PenFed check on 1/31. I called them yesterday. I was not able to reach my product specialist, but the person I spoke with at the general number indicated that our car has left the facility. We were told we would get a call 48 hours before delivery. Is this accurate? I'd like to think it could show up at any time

Btw Solar City is installing our outlet/HPWC at no additional cost from what was initially quoted. Our sales rep quoted us based on straight line wiring distance vs going up through the attic and back down. Solar City wanted about $2k more for the installation, but escalating to a supervisor resulted in them honoring initial quote.

We likely have our vehicles on the same truck. My ETA from Chris, the AZ delivery specialist, quoted the 6th, so I think that's going to be your date also.

You'd think that for $990 per vehicle, they'd be able to source a better, more efficient service.

I think that Phil will have to wait at least three hours after your delivery because Chris, the DS, will require at least two hours to explain your new car. I've been considering asking Chris to arrange for your car to receive special detailing in Memphis, TN so your car is really special . . . when you eventually get it. : )

I guess the tax is only the AZ sales tax and there is no city tax added in that in my location (Glendale) the sales tax is around 9% but I only had to pay the 6.5%.

Regarding the city sales tax, I think it depends on the city. I know Scottsdale will hit you up for a 'use tax' of 1.45%. I have purchased a couple of vehicles from out of state dealers and both times I received a letter from the City of Scottsdale a month or two after registering with the MVD requesting that I pay this. Go to Sales and Use Tax Information and click on the 'Use Tax' link. I don't see any exceptions listed for EVs but there very well might be. I'd be curious to hear from others in AZ (especially Scottsdale) who have had their cars for more than a couple of months to see if they've had to pay this.

Delivery Update: I received a call at noon letting me know that my car is going to be delivered tomorrow! Coincidentally, my Lloyd's mats are due for delivery tomorrow also.

Yay! So exciting! I talked to Chris this morning, and he indicated that our car was still on it's way to San Diego. I was hoping for delivery tomorrow since I'm off work, but it doesn't seem likely at this point. Just out of curiosity, what was the timeline from when your car left the factory to now? Thanks!

I don't know precisely when it left the factory. I do know that it didn't make a shipment that was loaded Wednesday afternoon/evening since I would've taken delivery on Friday/Saturday last week. My best guess is it shipped either Friday or Saturday.

Delivery was flawless. I got a call around 9 or so that the truck would be arriving at 11.
Chris showed up in his own vehicle, and did a quick lap around the neighborhood to make sure there was enough room for the truck to make it through.
The truck showed up shortly thereafter. The driver had the car offloaded in about 5 minutes, impressive (I have a video I'll post).
At that point, I spent a full hour with Chris as he walked me through functionality, and we also looked for issues for the punch list.

I'm happy to report that paint armor is now being applied at the factory. My punch list was very short: a couple software bugs and the chrome for the UMC.

The truck had one remaining Model S, and I know that was Anthony's vehicle. Apparently the rest of the cars (dropped off before my delivery) were some Toyotas and Bentleys that some poor saps will be pumping full of gas!

Chris emailed me today and says looks like we may receive our car on Sunday. That's quite a bit later than we were hoping for, and we have extensive plans made for Sunday too. I'll keep my fingers crossed for an earlier delivery...

Happy to report a very painless trip to the DMV (or whatever this state calls it). 15 minutes of waiting, 5 minutes with an employee and I was leaving, HOV plate in hand.

I'm absolutely floored at how much money we save with EV registration. My two-year registration was about 2/3rds the cost of the most recent cost for my 5-year old Prius! This is definitely thousands in savings for us over the life of the vehicle.

Also ordered my vanity plates today: STRM2PR (Storm Trooper...think white with black accents) :biggrin:

When you hand the paperwork to DMV, do you have to show them the car for inspection?

My car was not inspected at the time of registration. I doubt you'll have a problem.
