I'm going to try it out tomorrow! It's not EXACTLY on my way home, but I'm curious. Isn't it downtown Aurora by the Casino? Not exactly a ...uh...posh area to get out and walk around. What an odd location. I agree with SP4rk. Closer to I88 would be better for most I would imagine.

I stopped by there last Friday and I charged my wife's car. It is less than 7 miles from my office, so it is very convenient for me. It is right near downtown Aurora and not a horrible detour off of Interstate 88. Anyway, it worked great but was only charging at a rate less than 60 kW. Any ideas on why the rate was this low?

supercharging tapers off as you reach full charge. Somewhere I've seen the graph that shows the taper rate.

you only see the full rate when you are low on charge. I've seen almost 120kw when very low but today when I topped off at Pleasant Prairie on my way to work I only got 35kw. I had 175miles of range when I got to the charger.

I didn't realize the taper started that quickly. I'll charge another time when I have much less range left to see what kind of rate it will pull then.

Thanks.

I experienced the same thing there on Friday night when I stopped to charge. I called Tesla & they said the cold temp of the battery affects the speed of charge & also how full the battery already is. It's a great location. I hope it becomes permanent.

This temporary SC now off the web site in favor of the new one in North Aurora - I88 and Orchard Road

Interesting. I stop there the odd time when I go to visit my daughter and son-in-law in Cary. I always miss the turn and end up red-faced in the bus only area, but once I figure it out, I do enjoy the stop at the Roundhouse. The last time I was there (a couple of months ago) I noticed they had paved over the wiring trench and had figured they were making it "permanent".

From the thread title, I thought it was about improving something like this: :)

The temp superchargers at Two Brother's are still there, physically, but have been removed from Tesla's supercharger list/map. I asked my friend Rick, who lives right down the street, to snap a pic the next time he went by, which he did today.

And here are the new Superchargers (well, half of them anyway) at North Aurora, just a couple miles west of the temporary ones.

The one at the Roundhouse is still working as of yesterday (10/22/2016) according to this post. It's not on Tesla's official list however. I seem to remember that the "two brothers" who own The Roundhouse each owned a Tesla back when it was put in. I don't know if that is still the case or not, but it may have reverted into private ownership and not considered a public charger anymore. No knowledge, just guessing. Are there any other privately owned Tesla Superchargers out there?

Today, Tesla informed me via email that this location is now offline.
Can any locals confirm?

Damn, I hope not. The Roundhouse is one of my favorite stops to make on the way to my daughter's place about a hour north of there. I realize there is a new station nearby, but it looks to be just one of those mall parking lot stations with nothing interesting nearby. If the Roundhouse site is closed, I'll probably just skip Aurora and stop at Country Club Hills on the way in.

The 4 SC stalls at Two Brothers Brewery in Aurora have been removed. I just drove by there an hour ago.
Well that really sucks. They moved it over by Woodman's grocery store on the outskirts of Aurora. Nothing around it at all.... That said, Woodman's does have a nice selection of cheese and adult beverages for while you wait... But I will miss the stops at Two Brothers :-(
