A $68 million incentive deal may be offered to lure Tesla to build its next factory in Texas.

The Austin American Statesmen reported that the Del Valle school district southeast of Austin is considering the incentive package for the electric automaker in an effort to bring thousands of jobs to the community. The filing was made public by the Texas comptroller’s office Thursday.

Austin has been the frontrunner for Tesla’s new plant, with Tulsa also being considered.

“If the incentives deals are approved, Tesla accepts them and brings its assembly plant to Travis County, it would be one of the most significant economic development deals in Central Texas history,” the Statesmen wrote.

The proposed agreement calls for Tesla to build a 4 million- to 5 million-square foot facility that would eventually employ 5,000 or more workers.

The new factory is expected to build the new electric crossover Model Y, as well as the highly-anticipated Cybertruck electric pickup.

Parts of Texas are knee deep with PV farms. Oklahoma? Not so enviro-friendly much. By no means are the Oklahoman's as bad off as Arkansas (been waiting for YEARS for a big super charger location around Fort Smith, to no avail), but they're pale compared to Tay-haus. Give it to the lone stars!
