Authentic 3M Window Tinting?

I'm going to get top of the line 3M Crystalline window tint done from an authorized dealer. But I've heard horror stories of installers substituting cheap tint instead.

What can we do to verify 3M Crystalline is on my windows?

I got this response from one of my local tint shop when I asked for 3M. "Not sure why you need 3M? It’s honestly not that great of a product. I don’t carry that film. Sorry about that."

I love it. Drove my car in Houston for about 2 weeks before and what a huge heat difference this makes.

Would seem that local Tesla owners/clubs/groups could do some useful testing/comparing of products. Some areas that might be considered:

- window tints comparisons
- tire comparisons (even just tire pressures)
- effects of A/C and heating
- aerodynamics wheels, covers and spoiler etc.
- suspension such as springs and shocks

NOT just opinion/polling data gathering, but actual physical data collection.

If testing parameters are well enough defined, perhaps all Tesla owners could gather data points and data added to a centralized spreadsheet.

Perhaps this kind of thing already happening. Can anyone point us to the data??

I like your way of thinking

I had Huper Optik 40% on my previous car and it was fantastic. Slightly tinted look enough for privacy but not enough to make me look 21, and it kept an incredible amount of heat out of my car, even if parked at a golf course for 4 hrs or something. Impressive product but apparently expensive and a pain to work with.

Go to a reputable, 3M certified dealer as they won't have the incentive to bait/switch you.
