Auto Pilot

Just picked up the car 4 days ago and auto pilot isn't as relaxing as everyone said it would be. I find that I am more alert when on Auto Pilot then normal driving. I know that will/might pass over time and it'll be great for my stop and go commute, but right now it just feels weird.

How long did it take for you to get used to Auto Pilot?

0 minutes. It's not that different from other driving assistances. I used it all the time on my Hyundai, so the biggest difference was how hard I have to turn the steering wheel on the TM3 to resume control.

takes a bit to learn to trust it enough to relax and ease up. You will learn to recognize the areas it will have issues with before you even get there soon. At that point you can chill a bit more.

Took me a couple hundred highway miles to start trusting it more and a few thousands to find its limits and learn to proactively compensate for them.

While you should certainly be relaxed while using it, a little bit of healthy skepticism, keeping your hands on the wheel, and maintaining just as much attention to the road as you normally would are only good things when using AP.

I'd say this might be a common feeling for "some" new owners. For me, it is like others say above. Before long you will get comfortable with what it can and can't do.

How long did it take for you to get used to Auto Pilot?

It took me a couple of thousand km's to get comfortable with it and now I use it all the time on the highway. Less so on busy streets as other drivers tend to cut you off because of the space the car leaves between you and the car in front.

Its definitely very relaxing and worth every cent!

Sounds like a good thing. You aren't likely to be on the AP kill list. If you get too relaxed, then you are a candidate for the AP kill list.

How long did it take for you to get used to Auto Pilot?

A few months. I am an overly cautious driver, so was often taking control at any hint of AP (or my neighboring cars) misbehaving. It did feel like more work at first until I got familiar with how it drives vs me, etc.
