May be it's time to re-evaluate where companies are with Autonomous Vehicle Progress:

Who’s Winning the Self-Driving Car Race?

The article covers 16 companies that you might not agree with the order below:

This makes total sense. Tesla will deploy in 2019, so it must be 15th. Somehow #3, Daimler, has only selected a DECADE range to debut their self driving car but its third.

No wonder Elon goes apeshit when analysts speak...

Waymo is so far ahead no one else is in the same league.

Tesla are screwed by pre-selling inadequate hardware and unrealistic promises that they now have to direct resources to dealing with.

Tech built around idealized conditions that no one can buy and test for themselves... yeah, I doubt it.

It's great to have more companies explore different types of techniques for autonomy. All the companies are listed... many of them share the same tech from the same third party companies, so the landscape isn't as diverse as being portrayed.

Yes, Waymo is starting a taxi service. They have a much stronger sensor package than Tesla, with lidar.

Their plan is to start with the large package and scale it down as smaller sensors become available.

For doubters about Waymo's leadership in this area, have you followed this other thread: Autonomous Car Progress ?

Have you looked at the California DMV autonomous disengement reports for Waymo/Google vs. Tesla vs. Cruise Automation?

When has Tesla taken along the press or the public for test rides of their "FSD" systems on real roads? How about giving rides to the public?
