I didn't think you were supposed to use it on A roads. I don't think it's safe to.
...To those defending AP, I’m not here to slag it off. Just a friendly warning/reminder to those that like me are new to the Tesla world...
WARNING: Autosteer is intended for use only on highways and limited-access roads with a fully attentive driver.
Tesla say things like that then launch traffic light and stop sign control..not many traffic lights on a motorway...
The damage is only to the rim of the alloy. The aero hub escaped unscathed. Wish it had been the opposite! Is that just aero hub scratch and or the rim of the alloy
Oh I thought that hub covers the entire alloyThe damage is only to the rim of the alloy. The aero hub escaped unscathed. Wish it had been the opposite!
Unfortunately they designed it so that the alloy rim is still exposed on the outside of the aero cover. I'm waiting for my wife to give them a good scraping any time soon!Oh I thought that hub covers the entire alloy
It's not that the alloys are particularly soft. It's more that the tyre walls provide minimal protection as they are quite narrow relative to the rim width.Wasn’t considering installing rim protectors at first but if the alloys are that soft I think I might go down that route
That's some theory, the flaw to me is I'm now less likely to spend more money on EAP or FSD because of it. If I thought they'd nailed the basics, then I'd be interested in the extra features, at the moment it feels like good money after.. well I can't say bad as AP was included as standard, but you hopefully get the point.AP has been getting WORSE with every update in the last 6 months. It'll now randomly move left/right in additional to brake checking anyone following you.
If I was cynical it almost seems like Tesla is doing it on purpose, gradually making standard AP useless......but wait if you 'upgrade' to FSD (when ever it comes out), things will be better.
No alloy is going to emerge unscathed after contact with a kerb.Wasn’t considering installing rim protectors at first but if the alloys are that soft I think I might go down that route
I thought I'd seen you had bought FSD when it was on sale so you must have FSD already, I'm not sure how you would know what AP is like?
Can I just check something. This auto steering into the kerb and phantom braking when passing lorries, will this only happen with autopilot on or will it happen with TACC? Will it happen with TACC and Autopilot turned off?
