Autosteer Clarification

I'm a new Model 3 own who did not pay for the autopilot functionality (yet). I notice, though, that I can elect to turn on Autosteer Beta. What does this do? Does it actually function if I haven't purchased autopilot? Does it only work when cruise control is engaged? Thanks for any help.

I honestly don't know because I purchased EAP upfront. Some people have trial periods though.

For those of us with EAP, Autosteer only works with TACC. However TACC can be used alone.

Sounds like you got free autopilot. They screwed up with a lot of cars and gave it away for free. You are one of them. Enjoy it!

If you see that option and it works, then you have Autopilot enabled on your car. Maybe Tesla screwed up and you got it for free. So, two things:

1. Enjoy it! But don't be surprised or upset if it at some point goes away. Tesla may realize that they've screwed up and remotely revoke the software unlock.
2. Don't ever tell Tesla. Whoever you're talking to may not care, but it could end up in your service notes and be remotely revoked.
