Very similar to my install - took 40 minutes start to finish; $300 + $120 to handle permits. Seemed a bit expensive but that’s the going rate here (SoCal).
From the electrician's perspective, that's not really a 40 minute job...

Mine was $450 for a 4ft run with no drywall in NorCal by a friend who’s an electrician. Neighbor’s was $850 for a slightly longer run.
Mine was in metal clad, 6 gauge, 3 wire for 40’ and cost $1000 including taxes and permit for my 60 amp line. I’m getting 42m/hr charging here in South Jersey.
IRS Form 8911 for EV charging
I paid $1300 in Chicago to go from my unit, outside building, along fire escape, down to garage and then installed Tesla charger. Probably 50 ft of conduit and mounting to metal. I had to patch the drywall near box. And this was one of the better quotes.
Also, not a lot of people seem to know this, but there is an IRS Form 8911 for EV charging installation credit so save your receipts.
Did you or anyone get a Permit for your city after installation? Not sure if we need toI paid $350. Charger was installed directly behind the electrical panel inside the garage, so maybe 12" run, max. Install took a bit under an hour.
yup thats why I got it and am installing everything before the year is up.Good to know. I'll be asking about this come tax time. Thanks.
Is it just the installation cost only or you can deduct the cost of both the charger and installation?
