My tesla is now 5 weeks old with 1200 miles on the clock consisting of a fairly even 50/50 mix of urban & motorway.
Using teslafi (more out if interest) ive been monitoring the consumption & charging patern.
My average consumption in town/urban driving has been 190wh/mile & 240 wh/mile on motorways averaging 72 mph.
I'm interested how other new and established m3 owners compare.
Like everyone else I've taken friends and family for the adrenalin acceleration boost within those numbers!

I’ve done 1700 miles over the last, ahem, six months! A mix of short journeys and 80 mile DC trips. I’m getting 245w/mile

Very unusually for me, I've been doing mainly motorway driving since I bought the car. As a result I'm averaging 322 wh/mile
I'm hoping when I get back to normal driving I can get that down to under 300. Mind you I have a lead foot so we shall see!

So far with the LR I’m getting 200-240 on local trips and 290-300 on longer motorway journeys, using low regen mode only

Very good numbers for an LR. Are you preheating? Sadly they will get worse with the cold weather whatever you do. I'm at abot 285wh/m for 11k but most of that was done November to March before Covid. I was at 300wh/m over the winter.

I've found that it's short journeys that really hit the efficiency hard. I do a lot of trips of around 5 to 10 miles, and if I don't precondition whilst plugged in, the energy used to cool down/heat up the cabin for the first ten minutes or so tends to really pull the Wh/mile figure up. My average at the moment is 285 Wh/mile, and although some of that is fairly hard use, it's mainly been on single carriageway roads, often where the max safe speed is a bit below the NSL. My last trip to our local pub and back, a few miles away, showed the car had used 320 Wh/mile, despite me not driving particularly hard.

I do a long trip every other weekend with the car pretty well loaded so the extra weight probably affects my efficiency overall. (Well, there is no probably about it I guess). Still far cheaper than ICE though!

That beats me by 700 miles! Sad. :(
Only managed 1700 miles because we took picnics to the nearest supercharger several times when lockdown permitted.
Didn’t need a charge as such but had one anyway. Certainly did need the picnics and couldn’t let all the referral miles go to waste.
Sadly 710 free miles go down the pan tomorrow :(

No im not preheating, however the car is garaged when in use. The garage is well insulated so at present its only loosing about 3-4 degrees overnight but that will increase as the weather turns colder.
I'm on standard acceleration & standard regen always.!
Oh, im still on 40.4. The update has come through but I'm 200 miles from home with no wifi so it will be updated tomorrow evening/ tuesday morning when I'm home.

Both those numbers are about right (quite good in fact), though watch for them going up somewhat as it gets colder.

2500 miles in and on my daily commute to the city 70 miles or so I average between 195 and 210 running the heated seats on full

Now it’s getting colder it seems to be a static 220 at the moment.

Doing far better than I expected. I use about 40% battery over 140 miles.

We have just returned from driving clockwise round the north coast of Scotland and including as many of the the single track roads as we could.
Loads of very steep hills with stop/start driving to let oncoming camper vans past.

Very pleased to note my average is around the 260 that the car has averaged over 7000 miles. The trip included plenty of motorway miles as well.
Not so happy with the Charge Scotland Rapids on the West and North coast as they were either broken due to touch screen being inactive, card reader inactive, simply out of service or a couple had CCS comms errors.
Not one worked the whole trip and we survived on destination chargers and 13A sockets.

Needless to say Superchargers all the way up to Fort William and back were faultless.

Good review Rusty & a good return on the watts used.
Seeing all those chargers defunct makes you realise how lucky we are having the tesla superchargers.
