Of course I do not claim to know more about how Tesla matches cars than those at Tesla who are actually doing the matching. That would be delusional. And your suggestion that I might think otherwise is nonsense. However, I have been told numerous times by customer service people (and now by delivery specialists) that reservation date and configuration date are both factors in Tesla's matching algorithm. Based on my review of the posts on this board, many others have been told the same.

You are not Tesla, and the statements you allegedly received from customer service are not official statements of the "company." The fact is that you know nothing more about situation than others do. In fact, it is entirely possible that I know as much or more than you do, regardless of how many times you have called Tesla or how many hours you've spent posting on this message board. It may be that the customer service reps with whom you spoke are merely telling you what you want to hear to get you to stop harassing them. Admittedly, the same may have happened to me.

There is no question that different people have been getting different explanations from Tesla regarding how the matching process works. And given the anecdotal evidence that there are significantly more early reservation holders now getting their cars, it is IMO that it is wishful thinking on the part of later reservation holders/non-reservation holders to believe that reservation date is "irrelevant" in Tesla's matching process. I take issue with your suggestion that I am somehow delusional for holding that opinion.

I give them 50/50 chance of successfully delivering that date, but hope it pans out. I just executed funding for my LS unsecured loan to be paid into my checking account on 09/14. Things are clipping along now.

I hope that others who keep getting passed up get their ticket soon, the current situation of early reservation holders still waiting seems completely unreasonable.
Yeah, true, but I gotta think they at least hit EOQ, so hopefully any delay won't be more than a week or so.

Hey all, I'm picking up in Boston on 9/21! I'm going to put 20% down and finance the rest, how exactly does Tesla let me do that? Do I bring two checks or can I put the 20% on a CC?
Dedham? Call them. You may have to ACH the money to them. Credit cards apparently are not for purchases, as the seller pays 3% to the CC company. You should 1) call Dedham and 2) set up your account with proper financing information, not 'bring two checks'.

Has anyone worked with Lightstream for their car? I got 30K secured through them. The rest is cash.

How do I arrange the transaction on delivery day? Do I just ACH the Lightstream funds to my account and dump it all to Tesla on the day? Do they give me a routing/acct to ach to?

Delivery is on a Saturday, so not sure if I have to ACH on Friday or what...

I was able to extend my BMW lease a month to wait for my car. Only have a few miles on it so far, but love it.

Already on an extension on my lease was supposed to be turned in September 5th. If I’d known I would have the Tesla as early as September 19th I probably would have just turned it in.

you ACH the money to yourself. Then you give it to Tesla. So yes.. you should get the money before a Saturday.

Got it. What’s the best way to “give” it to Tesla? I’m guessing they don’t require ACH, which would force me to pay for the car before seeing it
When in doubt that would be a good question for your IDA. I'm curious myself as my finance company will pay them the limit of their liability and I'm on the hook for the rest.

You can get a certified check from your local bank after you ACH the money to yourself. I just ACH'd it to Tesla. It was easier, and my local center pointed out the flaws on the car before I even had a chance to look for them.

Fact that you have to take current pricing (rather than your contract price) at this event is utterly pathetic and insulting. So if you pass on this, they’ll let someone who’s willing to pay an extra $1700 or whatever jump in line in front of you (for the exact same car).

Way to respect your advance customers Tesla.
I saw some people saying in this thread that they are ready to pay 1500 more to get the car now. E.g.,chaning interior to white.

So this is a good one.

I changed my order from black to white interior around 12pm yesterday, 09/07.

I'm out doing a bike ride today, get back, see voicemail time-stamped 01PM MDT from Tesla delivery advisor offering me delivery in Littleton CO as soon as 09/19.

I finally got ahold of the advisor and set up delivery for 09/21. No VIN was available, but he assured me I'd have the VIN 7 days prior to delivery. He confirmed I had no trade in, this was a cash purchase (he recommended ACH payment but I will probably do cashier's check to hold purse strings in case anything is wrong with the car), and he confirmed my interior choice of white.

I can only assume Tesla had a car produced sometime in the last four weeks that was unclaimed (hard to believe with this backlog), someone's financing fell apart, they had a car in need of re-work that I am now getting, or that they are really prioritizing white interior for delivery.

Hopefully I'll have my VIN soon, I expect a VIN in the 6xxxx range, we'll see if I'm right.

04/01 - Reservation
06/27/18 - Initial configuration - DM DBM, black interior, aeros
06/29/18 - Changed paint color to MSM
07/11/18 - Changed paint color back to DBM
09/07/18 - Changed interior color to premium ultra white.
09/08/18 - First contact from Tesla
09/08/18 - Delivery scheduled for 09/21 in Littleton, CO.

Congrats! Glad your long wait is nearing the end, Voip, and you'll be getting a brand-spankin'-new Model 3! ...And we will not have to see anymore nut-crunching GIFs.

Amen. Hopefully the car I'm getting is not a turd someone else turned away. I plan on going over that sucker pretty carefully when I pick it up.

Oh, and here's one last GIF (hopefully) for the road;

my VIN was in the 5xxxx range and was made in August. I doubt you are going to get someone else's turd. Mine was in very good shape except two paint chips and the normal dealership swirls from their crappy detailers.

Yeah, it's kind of weird how they are still building cars from those VIN blocks this long after they got them. I'm curious what week it is manufactured, will know more of course when I get the VIN hopefully in the next few days.

When you say ACH (automated clearing house) you are referring to 'auto bill pay' via your bank where they either EFT or send a bank check to the destination of your choice and you provide your acct # at that vendor? Or do you mean something else?

I mean giving your account and routing number to the vendor and letting them pull an ACH transaction, just like you would to pay a credit card bill. Tesla asks for the details to do the transaction. I don't know why people get weird about giving their account and routing number to banks, credit cards, car dealers, etc. The information is right on a check anyway.

Did it shift your delivery date?
Where do you stand now? I got, sort of, screwed. Last Wed they SMS'd my home landland to provide trade-in and finance company info. As the SMS didn't (landline) I didn't find out to yesterday. I, called and asked them to re-SMS to my cell phone this time, but subsequently got the necessary info and sent the last of my outstanding info in. I really haven't kept track of the time between people losing edit config and getting a vin so I don't have a good sense of whether I will hear this coming week or next. My guess, this coming week. That made me think of your situation.
