AWD delivery thread

Yeeeeeah. That's an "escalate to management who knows how to unlock the page" problem. You may need to spend a while on the phone or you'll never get your car.

I suspect the moment the page gets unlocked everything will be smooth as silk. You just need to pressure them to fix whatever went wrong with your page. Once that's fixed, thank them politely and don't call again unless something else goes wrong.
Well I got someone at Nevada call center he was able to unlock my page, so everything started to flow after that. That's the good news. The bad news is my delivery date was set for this Friday (21rst) but as of last Friday the car was at the Richmond, CA rail yard waiting to get loaded on a train. So no way my car makes it across the country by this Friday. We went ahead and pushed the date bake to the 28th.

How long from the time they are writing your contract till you get a delivery date?

I had to call to change my delivery location to a different store in Chicago (long story) but was told that the call center representative could not make the chnage or see my DA. I told her who my DA had been and when shs contacted him to make the chnage he was also locked out. She said that usually means the contract is being written. So wondering how long it take to write the contract and get a delivery date.

I don't think it would take very long to finalize your paperwork. Cash purchase with no trade is probably the fastest, and trade-in with 3rd party financing is probably the longest, but none of these contracts should be taking more than a couple of hours to do.

Did your edit link and backdoor edit disappear or are you still dealing with this?

Just as an aside to this thread, I have seen two red, one white dual motor Model 3s show up in the large parking garage where I work in the past four business days.

Considering that this is a tiny slice of the overall Denver market it seems as though deliveries have started accelerating here locally where the overwhelming majority of buyers will not even contemplate getting a RWD car.

Ha. I have a 2PM appointment to pick up the same car but in Blue. Also taking it back to Delaware....
Sounds like I may see you there then! Does your taxes and fees for the car just say $4 for a tire fee? I'm guessing they'll just give us PA temp tags and we'll have to register in Delaware after getting the title but wondering why there aren't any fees for the PA side of it...

As I understand it we are on our own for going to the DMV and getting the vehicle registered. You can calculate your fees here.

I am in Wilmington (within the city limits)

Well yeah, Denver area, what are your Winters like? We're in the northeast and have a steep driveway. I wouldn't consider rwd either. That was the primary determinant for me plus prepurchase fully autonomous! With this plus geothermal we'll have virtually zero carbon footprint!

Denver itself pretty mild and the roads are kept pretty clear.... however if you need to commute in from the suburbs it can be quite sketchy several times a year. If you're in a job where you must commute in even when the roads aren't cleared then AWD might not be a must but magically many people wind up with it eventually.

My wife actually has a Mini Cooper, FWD, and does pretty well with Michelin X-Ice. Our nanny-mobile is a Honda Fit and also does well with FWD and real snow tires.

We live in a hilly area and I have seen people get stuck on the hill heading into our street many many times in the 13 years we've lived there.

For me the cost of AWD is peanuts compared to the cost of getting stuck.

FYI if anyone is stuck at the stage where a delivery specialist needs to review your changes (in my case insurance info). I was initially worried that it would prevent me from getting assigned a VIN. When I called Tesla sales, they assured me that it wouldn't. They were correct and I was indeed assigned a VIN. I was still stuck at that stage however with the Prepare for Delivery stage unchecked on my timeline. I received no response from my IDA despite multiple attempts to ask that question, so I finally called the store today and chose the option for new vehicle deliveries. The experience talking directly to the store was worlds apart from trying to contact my IDA. The rep that answered was kind, responsive, and seemed to be enthusiastic about helping me out. He was able to accept the requested change to my insurance info and it immediately kicked me over to the drafting my contract stage (cash payment, no trade-in).

If you have two people in the same location with literally identical configurations, both paying cash, and one reserved before the other one *and* ordered before the other one, then the person who did both first should be earlier in the queue.

Otherwise it doesn't actually qualify as a queue at all. "Queue" has a definition.

More recent orders have a higher margin/price than if the same config was placed in June. I think this is how some are slipping through the cracks. It's a cash grab right now.

I just talked to Tesla delivery center (RT 17, NJ) to check on my status of delivery scheduled for Saturday (9/22). I am told the car is stuck in Chicago on a train and the earliest it could get to NJ will be 10/2. Delivery tentatively scheduled for 10/3. If I had not called to check I probably would have received the dreaded 2 hour call on the day of delivery. The advisor said many deliveries are getting pushed out by a week or two. I was hoping Tesla gets to count my money towards this quarter.

The wait continues:rolleyes: ...I will enjoy my Model S for few more days :)

Just curious.. :) ..how did you know it's a dual motor? Check the VIN ?

One of them for sure is dual motor since it has a white interior. I assumed all three were DM but now maybe I need to verify.

I know that barring a Tesla fumble there will be a 4th one (blue) in the garage starting Thursday that will also be dual motor.

Does your backdoor edit URL still work?

After reading 217 pages of comments I can't seem to find a solid answer - does the backdoor URL edit stop working at some point?

**Talked to a NV rep last week as I needed to change pickup location and was told both she and the DA were unable to access parts of my account which she said is an indication that I have been moved down to the contracts department. Tired the backdoor edit trick today for giggles and it didn't work anymore. Worked a week-ish ago when I tried it.
