AWDs on the way to Canada?!?

Hey folks - Can I ask those of you who are near Toronto and have an AWD Model 3 to chime in please? My car was initially scheduled for Sept 26 and keeps getting pushed back. Literally EVERY time (3 times in a row now) I've checked in with my delivery specialist the day the car was supposed to land in Toronto and all he could tell me was "Sorry, been pushed out to ___ ", and I get another date about one week out. It's very frustrating.

What I'd like to know is for those of you who now have an AWD non-performance

- Are you a prior Tesla owner?
- Did you put your reservation in early on?

I'm a day one reservation holder and have been an owner for 4 years now (Model S), so it just feels like Tesla's promise to prioritize those of us who reserved early and already own a Tesla ... has been a crock of sh&t.

Sorry for the rant...

Well just received another disappointing update that my newest delivery date of Oct 13th is now cancelled and replaced with Nov 6th . Supposedly major train delays of shipments going into / out of Chicago (or whatever the real reason is). Clearly not happy with this news. I will hold out hope they are giving a date far into the future to temper expectations and then hopefully provide a delivery date earlier as a "bonus". Anyhow as Tom Petty sang..."Waiting in the hardest part". Definitely part of the playlist when I take ownership. The first line is hopefully how I will feel...
"Oh baby don't it feel like heaven right now
Don't it feel like something from a dream
Yeah I've never known nothing quite like this
Don't it feel like tonight might never be again"

Awful news.

My car has been delayed from September 21st, to the 29th to this week to October 15th. If the cars are actually stuck up at the border then likely I can expect similar news :-(

Hi Frozen,

I ordered a performance in June to jump the queue ahead of the hundreds of AWDs that received theirs last month. ;-) I still haven't received mine. It is scheduled for next week but I have zero confidence in actually seeing the car on this date. I also have been delayed multiple times. I have insured the car and cancelled twice now.

What colour is yours? I understand the reds are taking longer. Also the white seats are taking longer. Both I have unfortunately. I did not reserve early and don't own a Tesla. The delays are aggravating but I understand the car is worth it.

Hang in there! The day will come for both of us.

I feel your pain. Went through a couple of “misfires” including the most recent which was delivery was scheduled for Monday (a few days ago) and they called me last week to let me know it was being delayed. Currently on schedule for Friday at Lawrence - lets hope this one goes through!

Is the Tesla permanent notification displayed on your phone? It's supposed to help keep the bluetooth service running in the background as recent Android versions will kill services if no app is running in foreground/background.

And does the notification widget say connected when you get near to the car? Or does it say disconnected or connecting (or something else)?

"Permanent notification"? I don't have a Tesla icon if that's what you mean.

And usually the app shows disconnected when I approach the car, unless again I toggle airplane mode.

That's concerning. They had called me in late September saying the car was at the border and should arrive around October 6th. They then told me that this was delayed and that the car was in Chicago and now I am being pushed to a date of October 18th as it should arrive here on the 13th. I guess they made a wrong turn...

I am not so sure that they are quite clear as to what is going on and who is in charge of what. Since my original order I have dealt with 3 people; one from California, one local (and her manager) and one from Nevada (based on the area codes appearing on my phone). The Nevada guy set my latest appointment.

Hopefully I dont get another reschedule but luckily I have not committed to my insurance yet.

My story is almost identical! The most recent call was from Nevada too. I felt pressured to make an appointment. I kept suggesting that we wait until the car is actually at the store before making the appointment but that wasn't satisfactory. Maybe they get paid by appointment ;-) I will phone the insurance again after I get confirmation from the store the car is onsite.

Also, my local DA said she would put in a request to have the car delivered to Lawrence instead of Oakville as it is much closer for me. When I suggested this to the Nevada rep she stated that the car would need to be cancelled and reordered to make that happen. I am going to oakville I guess. ;-)

Maybe we're talking about the same thing. The notification is the bar that says disconnected in the attached picture.

I think it should say connected when you're near your car. Seems like it doesn't for you. Sounds like you need to toggle bluetooth or networking to get that to happen. I think there might be some hacks to get bluetooth to reset automatically when it doesn't detect the car. But hopefully they come out with the fob soon...

Sound like you had bad luck with your particular car/VIN.

I'm a non-prior owner. I reserved in spring and ordered a red AWD just before the end of June to get the premium Internet and hopefully beat the rebate cancellation. Upgraded to 19" rims around Labour Day. My reservation was locked shortly after and I took deliver on Sept. 30 at the International Centre. No issues I've seen with the paint like some have mentioned. There were 4 red ones lined up when I was there. I thought they all looked a little different (darker shade) but mine was "good". Could have just been my imagination.

I ordered Obsidian metallic black. Standard wheels and black interior.
Others have been getting the same colour as me so I think Tesla basically screwed up on their promise to prioritize owners. I'm pretty annoyed at them. Horrible system.

I’m not a previous owner.
- I put in a reservation on July 1.
- Canceled the reservation on August 1.
- Offical order on September 5
- Picked up Sept 26 at the IC

Not sure why I was pushed through to delivery within a month but my spec was typical build I guess. AWD, EAP, Solid Black 18 Aero.

Sorry to hear about your frustration, I would be upset too.

Just got the email. Delayed until November. If they change the vin I will cancel and reorder in the spring.

Guys I totally empathize with you all. I was one of the volunteers there last week helping with questions and orientation and it was frustrating for everyone. As you have seen and heard the paperwork process was what caused most delays. Everything is generated from Fremont and they had to wait until everything was posted online.
This was happening everywhere and believe me the Tesla staff aren't happy with the process either, so I would think it is a high priority to get fixed. I think they were hoping to deliver mores cars but everything was backed up because of the delays. The lease of the International Center expired on Sunday so that’s why all the cars had to be moved.
I’m glad we were there to help pass the time and offer tips etc. It has been said over and over that getting your car makes it all worth it and that is 100% true. I have owned different Tesla’s for almost 6 years and would never go back to an ICE car.
The local staff are awesome and the service departments are great.

Thanks, @bijan.

Hmm, I don't have Tesla notifications at top left. Only in the app. Not sure if that's why, and how to turn on notifications.
