Also, shipping can be arranged through a separate company and not just Tesla. It's definitely cheaper that way.

I shipped my Acura MDX from NY to Big Island for 2700. This included flatbed to train in NJ, train to LA port, cargo ship to Honolulu port and local ship to Big Island port. So 3-5K seems high, especially if the car is on Oahu.

Wow. There was a time it was profitable to do a 3 month vacation in Hawaii and just ship your car back and forth. $900 each direction - which would be cheaper than the rental for 3 months. I liked driving with Hawaii plates on the mainland for a while coming back .

You can check it out yourself. But shipping between CA to HI is still about $1100 each way. Part of that $3K fee that nanimac was talking about must have been shipping cross country before the water part.

Not sure why Tesla charges more. you'd think they get bulk deal. Also, $3k is for west coast cars. $5K from east coast.

Correct, any Hawaii car will be $5000 to ship to the mainland. Its cheaper to make a vacation out of it, fly to Hawaii, take delivery, drop it off at the port with your own arranged shipping and have it shipped back to Sacramento.

Check with your OA. When I was looking at inventory car in California last month, shipping was $3k even though website showed $5k. I'd be happy to test drive the car for you
