Bad XPEL Installation?

This site may earn commission on affiliate links.
Hello,
Today I got my new MYP back after paying $3k for XPEL front clip PPF and XPEL tint by an XPEL certified installer. I’ve noticed a lot of dust related bubbles on both the PPF and tint and am wondering if this is normal, or if I should be contacting the installer. I also had the mirror caps and emblems done satin black and I already know that they’re unacceptable. The pictures attached below do not show all the bubbles, there’s probably 20-30+ of these little bubbles, not counting the ones I haven’t noticed. Zoom in on red circles to see them.

Also, if I should be contacting the installer, should I be getting a refund? How should I proceed about this?

I talked to my shop I normally take my cars and picked his brain he said normally they ask customers to wait 7-14 days every shop is different. he did note though the shop might be having you wait the 30 days to see the full damage but in reality after 7 days if there is lifting and heavy marks under the ppf then it should have been taken care of after the week as it will not get better.

they should honor their work and fix all defects. worse case is they try again and it comes out crappy and make a discount deal.

What do you think the proper recourse is? Also, what should I be expecting with a ppf install? I’m assuming no bubbles at all. I’ve seen plenty of posts of people saying they’ve had no bubbles at all in their installs.

I’ve contacted them and am waiting on a reply. Hopefully, it gets resolved with no issues. The bubbles for the most part wouldn’t be too noticeable, but when I’m spending $3k, I expect a lot better.
Keep in mind also Tesla paint have a lot dust nibs from the paint that will be noticeable when putting paint protection film . if they are just small bubble or moisture it drys out naturally. Hope this gets settle soon!

a lot of pros saying that small water bubbles will disappear over time, but no air bubble will disappear. is this correct statement?

Screw calling or texting. Show up to the shop and talk respectful.

I'm currently researching shops to get mine done. Want to do a full wrap ($4450 with xpel ppf and $4850 with stealth ppf).

Would you guys say thats a good price?

Also, looking for any recommendations for shops in the So Cal area. Any help is appreciated.
I can’t speak to the skill level of the installer but the price sure seems good. In Sacramento I see prices more in the $5500-6500 range. I would have expected SoCal to be more.

Kind of what I felt. This is the type of job where I'm not looking to skimp, know what I mean. I tend to be on the "you get what you pay for" boat. Feel like if its too cheap, the job won't be very good.

There is a thread here on this forum on Xtreme Edge Auto Detail in Garden Grove. Great work and very reasonable. $4,500 for a full wrap 2 yrs ago. Not sure about prices today.

I wouldn't base everything on the price. go to the shop look at their job and work if you are happy move forward

thanks. I just read that thread and did a little research on that place and it sounds like a great place to get mine wrapped. I'm going to give them a call today.
I am scheduled to get my car fully wrapped with xpel stealth PPF there on Monday. Their prices have gone up significantly. They charge $6,000 for a full wrap now. Let us know if you hear something different.

Yeah wouldn’t recommend the shop I went to either. So Cal Tint in Chino, CA. They finally contacted me back telling me they weren’t open Sunday or Monday. They then told me that they’ll check my car when my 30 day inspection date comes up. Not sure if this is a good or bad response. As I’ve notified them of peeling, which should be addressed immediately. I’m just hoping when the 30 days comes up, they take responsibility.
This is where I usually go to get my cars tinted. The tints almost always have little bubbles, but I usually don't complain much since they were all leases. One time the bubbles were bad, so they re-did it with no issue. Business is good these days and they have multiple installers, but I'd definitely go back in person and give them a chance to make it right.
