Basic AP owners

I have basic AP equipped in my 3 (not FSD or EAP). How does ap handle freeway junctions? Are you supposed to disengage AP everytime there is a junction, or when the freeway splits?

What about freeway turns? For example a 65 zone enters a 40 mph turn. Will ap know to slow down in time for the turn? I've been disengaging ap for the above situations everytime.

Basic AP can't handle junctions. For that, you would need Navigate on Autopilot, which is part of EAP (no longer available) or FSD.

AP adjusts to speed limits based on a database, not from reading signs. If the speed limit changes to 40mph, then it should adjust, although the database isn't perfect. Note that I said speed limit, not the "recommended" speeds that are sometimes posted along curves. For sharp curves on highways, my experience has been that AP slows down based on the curvature of the roadway, although it doesn't always adjust speed smoothly.
