Battery + Fuel Cell Hybrid???

Going to a station is less convenient than plugging in at home. People will use the battery only for most of their driving, especially if the battery range is more than 50 miles or so.

This was my initial thought, too. But I doubt there will be a "use no H2" drive mode in a fuel cell car?!
So if the car uses a bit of H2 anyway, it will run out of H2 eventually. Can it keep going on electricity? And continue doing so, provided it get's plugged in?

The Toyota Mirai is a battery + fuel cell hybrid electric car that will do 0 to 60 mph in 9 sec (be careful of the negative whiplash.) It has a 1.6 kWh NiMH battery but there is no mention that you can plug in to charge - so it is not a PHEV.

It took Toyota nearly 10 years to make the Prius a PHEV maybe by 2024 they'll make the Mirai a PHEV if this FCEV experiment lasts that long.

I've been looking at the Honda hydrogen advertising but I can't find what the cost of a fill up would be, does anyone know?
No one can tell you 100% for sure yet as so far most hydrogen stations don't post their real prices, plus the automakers are giving out "free" hydrogen for 3 years.

However, from the ones that have so far, it costs about $13-14 per kg with tax, a tank stores about 4-5 kg, so cost per fill up would be about $50-70. Given the fuel economy is about 60 miles per kg, you travel about 240-300 miles per tank.
Compared to a standard 30 mpg car, this is equivalent to $6.5-7 gasoline.
