I'd have to disagree, I was pleasantly surprised to see the larger battery wasn't much faster making the short range car a easy choice for me and saves me money
Perhaps there is more to the package. I'll wait to see. I agree it's a lot of money just for the range, but I'm thinking there might be additional upgrades along with that.
WHAT?! You are talking about a Model 3, not a Model S. A non-luxury car that is priced at 35k and 9k more get you over 310 miles! For 44k you get more range that a 90k Model S Tesla and you are complaining.
Why? They beat what they said they would do at the price they said they would do it. Plus there is an option for over 300 miles of range... what's to be disappointed about?
That's a 90 mile range increase, which is more than 40% range increase. Range is king, the most important factor of an EV. 9k sounds like the right amount. Ya wished the 75 had slightly better acceleration. I was expecting 4.7 or so.
Yeah, 310 miles for like 1/3 the cost of an S, that's impressive! I'm sure we'll see more details soon if these production cars start making their way into the public eye.
It's not that the small or big batteries cannot turn a better 0-60 time, they are being deliberately held back in their controller programming. If we want awesome speed we have to pay more for the D or Ludicrous versions. This is what we get for $35K or $44K. 5.1 to 5.6 seconds. With the controller unleashed, the small battery can crank out 4 second times, no problem.
Underwhelmed by the smaller battery, overwhelmed by the larger one. It's a big gap between the two. For that range difference the price is great though. Makes me think they are baiting most people to pick the larger one.
