i have a 2015 Model S 70 D. It was manufactured in 12/2015. I want to upgrade the battery to the 75 D by doing a firmware update but am unclear if my battery can update the firmware. Can someone help?
I think your best option is to look under the passenger side front wheel well and see what the sticker on the battery says.
If it's a 75kwh or 70kwh it'll be marked there.

It wasn't until the fall 2016 refresh that they even started making/offering the 75kWh batteries, so your 2015 70kWh battery is just a 70. There is no extra locked capacity that can be opened up.
Ok. One more time. Now I am looking at buying a Model S, 2016 with the new front end, that is a 60D. I believe the sticker says manufactured in 6/2016.
Does anybody know when Tesla started offering software limited 60Ds or how I can determine if this one is software upgrade able? I don’t own the vehicle so can’t go look, so was hoping for some guidance.
