The BC CEV incentive is about to run out. Does anyone know what the chances are that it will be renewed?

There's still over $7 million dollars available. To say it's about to run out is being a little extreme.

Tesla told me that. He said before Model 3 began deliveries on May 30, there was $13 million. Today, one month later, there is only $7 million. He said flat out that there is no way it will last for another 4 months when dual motor deliveries begin. The Model 3 essentially used up most of the funds.

I don't think anyone believes that it will last another 4 months but saying that it is about to run out because it won't last another 4 months seems a little off. It has slowed down a lot in the last couple of weeks but the initial round of deliveries has eaten up a good chunk of what was once there.

I was able to configure in April and have been refreshing my account since then holding out for the hope of All wheel Drive. I have been watching the CEV rebate page almost daily and seeing it drastically fall over the last month as stated above from the 13 mill to now 7 mill.

As of 2 days ago none of us could order AWD in Canada so I decided the 11000 dollar swing of losing the rebate and having to pay for AWD just wasn’t worth it so I reluctantly configured. Haha and after all that literally the next day AWD opens up to all. Was depressing and funny at the same time. Thankfully after seeing that it’s 3-5 months to get a car I also believe that the rebate in BC will be gone by the time anyone in BC gets there AWD. When I phoned once The Tesla store said they was a big push in the last month but they are still delivering around 13 per day at a Vancouver store. Even 10 per day would be 1.5 million a month gone and that’s only for Tesla’s, not including leafs bolts and hybrids so no way it’s going to be around in 3 to 5 months.

And for me it worked out great, filled out my paperwork right after configuring and what do you know they have a my build sitting in Vancouver assigned my vin today and pick up on Friday. Most likely because I live in Canada and don’t affect the tax credit and delivering Friday will give them higher numbers for the end of the quarter.

Here's my guess: Expenditures in the 10's of millions of dollars, which would be needed to fund a renewal, usually need to be part of the budget - hence the March 2020 expiry date for the currently allotted funds since new budgets must be delivered by the third Tuesday of every February in BC so it was budgeted to last until the Feb 2020 budget unless exhausted prior -- which of course it will be especially since it applies to plug-in hybrids.

So I see no renewal in funding until 2020. I guess there's some hope that the budget of Feb 2019 could include more funds for it, but I wouldn't count on it. That budget really needs to be put in place by about Sept and I can't see funds going to EVs as even being considered especially in light of things such as the "school" tax fiasco for this gov't. They're also bleeding money, esp with ICBC. So after what's left of it, and it's going fast, my guess is that it will be just like when it ran out in March of 2014 and then it took another budget to fund it again which happened in April of 2015. So that was 13 months with no rebate. We look to be headed for history repeating itself, at least in my view.

    Congrats!!!
What configure u ordered? I ordered my White, Premium w/ Aero 10 days ago and heard nothing. All I can assume is they don’t have the same config in the lot and that means I have to wait for the next batch which who knows when. If my car arrives in Sept/Oct I will probably miss the rebate and for only $5300 difference I want the AWD! The worst part is I can’t afford to change my mind after Jul 1st since they no longer offer free data for life. Any advise?

Your order page should have a delivery time frame. What does it say? Also, did you not order AP? That may delay you if that's the case since AP is easy "flip of a switch" money for Tesla.

It doesn’t say delivery time frame, just showing “We will reach out to you to schedule your delivery date.” I am willing to consider adding on EAP it that’s what they have in stock but Tesla store rep has no clue.

Midnight silver with aero and autopilot so I would imagine it’s the colour. I live in Victoria and already have seen every colour model 3 but the midnight silver so it could be less popular hence why it was available. Not sure I would trust those delivery estimates as even after i got an email and talked on the phone with a delivery specialist about mine being available it said on my page delivery in September to November.

This is what I was told by Tesla too (and why I configured in May and abandoned AWD). I just couldn't justify the 10k difference for awd (5k rebate + 5300 option).

FYI,I previously reached out to CEVforBC and they informed me that the "funds reserved" (which is 8.3 million right now) is for the applications that have already been submitted but has not been processed yet.

Interesting they are still delivering around 13 cars a day out of Vancouver. Congrats on delivery Friday!

So can I still get a RWD off the lot to take advantage of the incentive like the other fellow above?

The rate of consumption of funds from Model 3's explains why i'm seeing more TM3's than BMW 3's on the road these days.

So now it's an additional $700 for white paint (and red but I got white), plus $100/year for cellular coverage (vs free for life), and likely no rebate by the time AWD arrives? I really wanted AWD but I'm sure glad I decided not to wait for it - esp since it would have also meant one less summer with the car and I'm not getting any younger. People in Ontario who got $14.5k off sure lucked out. I doubt we'll ever see anything close to that number again.

Plus, if you order white or red, and plan to keep the car for 10 years, you need to add $1,700.00 to that.

we are now under 4 million left in the fund. I doubt it will last past October as I expect there to be a decent number of deliveries of Model 3's in September.

For anyone interested in seeing the historical prices of the CEV fund, I started automatically tracking it on July 9, 2018. I was able to get a few numbers before that from the Wayback Machine, but apologies for not thinking of automating this sooner!

I've attached the CSV to this post. I'll update every week or so for those who are interested in tracking it over time.

Latest spreadsheet attached. Available funds have gone from $3,781,833 a week ago (Aug. 19) to $3,396,833 today (Aug. 26) - so about
$385,000 in one week. At this rate, that leaves just under 9 weeks until it's all gone.

but that's based on the current number of deliveries continuing. We know that at least 3 truck loads of cars arrived last week so one can only assume that the amount of model 3 deliveries is on the rise.

I know - as an AWD-waiter, I think I'm naively hoping there will be funds left over by the time I take delivery. :)
