The load balancing on the Gen2 Wall Connector requires a low voltage signaling wire to be run between the Wall Connector units. The maximum amperage of each Wall Connector is reduced by half when both vehicles are charging at the same time. If one vehicle completes charging first then charging will continue for the second vehicle at the maximum charging amperage for the circuit. The Gen3 Wall Connector is supposed to function in a similar fashion but does not require the signaling cable between the Gen3 Wall Connector units, instead uses WiFi. To date Tesla has not delivered the firmware for the Gen3 Wall Connector that will enable load balancing. If you have (2) Gen3 Wall Connectors installed on the same 60A circuit, currently, each Wall Connector must be set for a maximum of 30A so that the total charging amperage does not exceed 48A (24A for each Wall Connector) when both vehicles are charging at the same time.
