Best way to route wire from driver side footwell to passenger side

Yes, its like the solution was made for your problem. Pop the triangle like trim off each end of the dash. These have three clips that hold each on in place. Use a plastic trim spoon so as not to dent the trim. Look at the end of the dash, sort of from the outside of the car. Looking at the opening, at about 10 o'clock, you will see a 1.5 inch (or so) hole, This is a steel tube that goes all the way across the dash. You will see the same on the other side. Just feed your wire through there. Put the trim back on with a push on each corner.
