Biggest EV Parade in Montreal April 18 2015

The current Guinness record for the most EVs in a parade is 507 so it won't be easy. Only the 100% electrics will count, even the i3 Rex will be excluded. All plugins are welcome and will be counted for the total attendance for the event but only the pure EVs will be counted for the Guinness record. There were 59 Model S in attendance last year, can't wait to see how many there will be this year. (I'm driving from Ottawa with my Leaf)

Thread on last year's event: Biggest EV PARADE on April 18 in MONTREAL. Anyone from Toronto coming?

Looks like they will be trying for several different records at this event. The first Guinness record is the “largest parade of Nissan cars” which currently stands at 225 (registered in the UK in 2010, various Nissan vehicles) and the second Guinness record is of the largest parade of electric cars (pure EVs, anything with a gas engine doesn't count).

They are also planning on setting two new Guinness records, one for the largest parade of Chevrolet Volts and one for the largest parade of Teslas. Last year there were 181 Volts and 59 Teslas, hoefully there will even more Teslas this year!

It is too bad that there are only two superchargers at the Montreal dealer. However there's also a supercharger in the store which is usually available to clients on week-ends and the two HPWC next to the superchargers.

Only five days left before the big EV parade. They need a lot of Teslas to establish a new World Record (new category for largest parade of Teslas)

I just got home from this event and I had a blast! There's something about being in the same place with 100 Teslas that makes for a great time! I drove 190 miles (305 km) from Vermont (each way) in my Roadster to enjoy the hospitality of our Canadian EV neighbors to the North.

Many thanks to the organizers for their efforts to put together a large event like this, complete with police escort through historic Montreal with over 500 cars. The hospitality of the Québécois was really nice, especially their willingness to speak English to us Americans without ever acting like we were putting them out, and offering their help whenever possible. It was most appreciated!

I'd love to hear an update on how many people, any records, etc.

Glad you enjoyed the ride ;) Doing this kind of distance in a Roadster is not the same as with a S... not a lot of creature confort and no supercharger access!

When you guys came in (you and that 2nd guy with a Roadster, also from Vermont) everybody gathered around We also had a local Roadster owner who joined, did you get a chance to meet him?

I enjoyed meeting Pierre and I hope to stay in touch with him. It seemed like there were more than 85 Teslas but I didn't count. Next year we should have a Tesla party afterwards...

Great! Good idea for the Party. I actually drove straight to the drag strip after the parade. I asked a few owners that where there and nobody wanted to come with me :D. We should probably ask Club Tesla Quebec for the party.

This event was certified as a Guiness World Record for EVs in parade,

There have been larger EV gatherings, but either they didn't include parades, didn't meet the Guinness rules, didn't submit the proper proof, or are awaiting certification. Even in this event, at least 30 BEVs weren't counted because they moved into the left lane towards the end of the course, breaking the single-file configuration.

That's weird. The article says 241 cars. Looking at my pictures I would say there were over 400 cars. Close to 100 Teslas alone and about double that number of Leafs.

I was one of those. I was waiting on the right lane, just before the bridge when someone, in another Tesla, did a sign with his hands to go left. I followed him and ended up not giving my paper. I was stuck in the bridge entrance, force to get into Montreal when I realized it... so I drove home.

To be honest, a lot of people did not know there were 2 papers to give out. Some gave the 2 papers to the first guy, after the Tesla-only parade. I suggest that next time, there need to be a very specific map with start and end points clearly marked... When the police patrol went away (3/4 of the way), I was like "wtf ? Did I miss the end?"
