Bike Hitch - further rearward than past cars?

I put on a stealth hitch this fall and noticed it puts the bike quite a bit further rearward than I had it on my other car. I think it's due to the hole in the receiver being pretty far rearward. There is still plenty of room forward for the hitch to slide. Anytime else notice this puts your bike further back than on other cars? Thinking about drilling a hole deeper to pull it forward a bit.

added some pictures to show the difference. Pushing the hitch forward in the receiver gets me just over 2" closer to the car that these measurements, but that's it.
