I agree. I remember Bjorn doing all the testing and they do work. Someone is in need of it I'm sure.

My wife feels it definitely helped her allergies when we had the S, and has missed it in the 3, so I'm glad to hear it will be in our new Y. The button itself is just for "Max Cleaning", the HEPA filters are working all the time.

Interesting that it's not actuated when the HVAC is in 'auto' mode.... Which I guess means it's an add-on the the regular filtration system.... Which I find to be very good.

This is pretty upsetting, I took delivery of my Y in late May and it came without the lumbar support for the passenger. Now this.. You buy a car and a moth later it becomes “obsolete”. When I bought my M3 back in 2019, a month later Tesla added speakers to the car.

But you got the heated steering wheel, updated console, auto-dimming outside mirrors, double-paned front door glass, flash drive in the glovebox....

I know this would be an added expense, but seems likely they might sell a retrofit for Model Y since I see that as an option in the Tesla store for Model S and X. It's something I would consider.

Same would definitely pay for this upgrade... hope they do it and didn't have to drastically change the frunk to accommodate new hepa filter where it would not be possible for us.

This won’t be able to be retrofitted to existing cars. Per the link the whole location of the filter had moved which means a change to the aircon ductwork as well.

if tesla wants cash they can create retrofit steps if feasible lets wait to see what happens.

Here's a view of the new filter setup from a MIC MY, which has apparently had them since earlier this year. Basically double the size of the standard filter.

That’s good to know. Curious to how much it will cost. My VIN is 203XXX and built 6/2021. Maybe I’ll wait to get it before spring allergy season. I’d pay $200 for it. I’m betting it will be $500-700 though.

The HEPA upgrade for the S and X is $500. Assume it’d be the same for the Y.

A little on the high side for me. But on the other hand, it adds a cover/filter for the giant air intake hole.
