Bjorn just did a test with 8 cars all driving the same 77 mile route at the same time with different cars to test efficiency.

    Here is the video:

And a summary of the efficiencies:

    232 Wh/mile Model 3 LR RWD w/ 18" Aero wheels
    238 Wh/mile Ionic
    244 Wh/mile Model 3 LR Performance w/18" Aero wheels
    246 Wh/mile Model 3 LR RWD w/19" Sport wheels
    255 Wh/mile Model 3 LR AWD w/18" Aero wheels
    278 Wh/mile Model 3 LR Performance w/20" wheels
    287 Wh/mile Bolt EV
    321 Wh/mile Model S P85+ w/21" wheels with sticky tires

So you can see that in actually driving that the Model 3 is significantly more efficient than the Bolt EV.

It is too bad that they didn't have a Model 3 MR to test.

I normally like Bjorn's videos but this one was a waste of my time....a bunch of people standing around, no explanation of what or how things were tested and no explanation of the conclusions.

This was from his live stream channel, I'm sure he will make a more formal video to release to his normal channel. (There are other videos of the test available if you want to watch and see more details.)

Thanks for the heads up on that. I'll definitely wait for his edited version, as I find he usually does a decent job of organizing message and cutting cruft.....save for his occasional moan worthy "Dad jokes".

    variables are:

    - tires and tire air pressure
    - weight
    - air density (temperature and humidity) wind
    - margin of error

That wouldn't apply to this test because all of the vehicles were driven at the same time on the same route in the same conditions.

P.S. Setting the test at 75MPH? The fix was in against the Bolt! ;)

Yeah, that was surprising. The driver of the AWD, himself, suggested it was probably user error.

And yeah, the Bolt would do much better at lower speeds, I'm sure.

I get no where near those ratings. I think Im averaging around 320-340 in my P3D- just cruising to work and back. Maybe a couple hard accelerations to get onto the freeway etc. If I drive i hard I'm closer to 400.

Those figures match up nicely with what I see with our P3D w/18" Aero and our Long Range w/18" Aero.

And it really confirms the importance of wheel selection on range.
