Black Hawk Destination Charging

I like to go up to Black Hawk occasionally and noticed that there are no destination chargers on Tesla's map. So I reached out to a few of my favorite casinos and it looks like all are interested in putting in chargers and will working on getting them installed.

I will update this as I hear back about completed installations.

The issue may be that the casinos use parking garages and ... good luck keeping those spots from being ICEd.

I know there are several destination chargers available in Cripple Creek it will be nice to have several to choose from up in Black Hawk and Central City.

Ok, HUGE news!!!!!!!!!

I have been talking to the Monarch Casino for a while about chargers and was told they decided to add some in their new parking garage. It was supposed to be open for July 4th but they ran into some delays. Anyway, they are almost done with the garage and you can now park in it. I went up for the first time this weekend and saw the new garage. WOW. They have 8 Tesla HPWC and 2 level 2 Clipper Creek chargers in addition to the 2 Tesla HPWC that are in handicap spots. Unfortunately they aren't online yet, but I emailed my contact there and asked when they would be available to charge. The new garage has a lot of other perks also. I made a short video which I will try to have uploaded tomorrow and I will post here when its available.

The nice thing about the chargers is that they have little chance of being ICEd. Two are in handicapped spots and the other 8 are at the far end of the parking garage so lazy ICE car owners probably wouldn't park so far away. Even if some are blocked, there are 8 of them so it should be very easy to find an open charger, at least in the foreseeable future.

That probably makes Black Hawk the highest number of EV chargers per capita in the world. Black Hawk has a population (full-time residents) of 100! When I'm up there,I use their post office to buy stamps and mail packages. There's never a wait.

Whoa, this is nice to hear. I'm starting to plan out some trips locally and this could be nice.

There was a technical difficulty on Sunday but fortunately the two Clipper Creek chargers were working fine. Monarch had their electrician come out on Monday morning and they said they got all 10 destination chargers working again. We'll probably head up again this weekend to test them out.

Thanks, Monarch! That's the largest installation of destination chargers that I've ever seen in one spot!

We stopped by on December 9th and confirmed all 12 chargers are working fine and provide 40 amps each.
