Black lug nut caps?

i just got my wheels powder coated black and need to find black Lugnuts or lugnut caps to put on top of them. After a brief search I tried to call the Tesla service center and they had no idea what I was talking about. I also noticed that some people found lug nut caps online at Amazon but upon my search only found bad reviews on cheap plastic ones flying off.

Would love some general insight on where to get these Lugnuts caps for my generation one lug nuts. What is the size of my lug nut? 21mm?

Service Center should have or be able to order you the matte black "lug nut covers." The covers should run around 9 bucks for 20.

Now are these black covers for the generation 2 lug nuts or the standard single cast metal lug nut? Because from what I am seeing the lug caps that Tesla sells goes on top of their odd two lug nut system which the newer vehicles have

They are for the gen 2 lugs. Some service centers replace the cast metal lugs for the new ones since the cast ones have a tendency to round over with minimal force/over time.

Ah understood. Now I am out of warranty, how much would it cost to upgrade to the gen 2?

For all four wheels the new open ended ones should be under 30 bucks. Service center might good will switch them out if your cast ones are rounded off.

Wheel Specialists 480-968-1314, Dave Sleater can get you black metal lugs. Went this route over plastic covers. Have had them 18 months with no issues.

Here are the black lugs from The Wheel Specialists on my car after they powdercoated my wheels black. I've actually since done a chrome delete with glossy black vinyl wrap, but that's for another thread.

Btw -- how did these work. I have a generation 1 lug nut system as well and am getting glossy black powdercoated wheels.
Also what size are the lug nuts for 19 inch OEM wheels -- did the 21-23mm size work for you?

Hey Ed, I ended up going to the Tesla service center and bought the second generation open ended lug nuts with the black caps that they have. After trying to install the second GEN Lugnuts the black caps that they gave me were too short to go over the bolts and the new nut. So I figured out that I can actually use the black plastic caps that they gave me over the first generation Lugnuts as well

If I understand you correctly -- you ended up sticking with the first gen lugnuts but used the black caps from the 2nd generation lugnuts that you got from the Tesla service center. If so -- do you happen to know if you can just buy the black caps from Tesla and how much they would cost?

You understood correctly. The caps alone were 7.80 total! I was shocked lol

I ended up calling a few of my local stores and just picked them up. I couldn’t find them on the website either.

When u say "local stores," do u mean at one of the retail sales locations or at one of the service centers?
