Its lasered etched on - permanent. So the lighter color you see is the exposed metal. Since laser is variable each plate will be a bit different. Totally over engineered, but that’s how Tesla fans are.

Update - orders are all shipped, I always try to ship by 24 hours.

Installation - use screw caps with your oem screws. Foam pads are provided to affix to your metal plates and only needed where you are installing directly to your car paint. If your car has a black plastic backing to screw into, then no foam pads are recommended.
