Yep, @Tholland is right. Out of the 114 Model Ys that have delivery dates and 126 that have received a VIN to date in the spreadsheet, none include a Solid Black exterior. Plus Tesla reps were making calls to folks who ordered black asking if they would switch to another color to get their car earlier. I'm also wondering what's going on with that color. Total speculation but could there have been a problem with the black paint process? But I don't see why that color would be any more challenging than the four other colors.

Correct. If anything the other colors are harder to produce correctly. But who knows. I can appreciate them offering other colors to those people so they can take delivery. But I’m worrried about that color tho. Seems strange

I don't know for sure, but I think statistically fewer people want black paint cars. A few reasons including a misconception that it's hard to keep clean or swirl marks are very apparent.

I have a black car and it is impossible to keep clean, no misconception at all, truth. Do what you want in your garage/driveway with washing, waxing, etc., drive it once through any construction area or rain event, and it shows everything. Constantly having to touch it up to the point that I rarely drive it. I've had silver and light grey cars and it can go weeks or months before looking dirty.

I've always had black cars (4 of them at this point). Maybe I'm weird, but I never really noticed anything super annoying, or I just don't know any better.

My car is always garaged. My Audi has XPEL Ultimate completely wrapping it, so I just take a quick dust brush to the exterior after parking it. Washing is really simple, just spray, soap, and once in awhile I just use a layer of the XPEL polish and it looks shiny as heck. Maybe the XPEL really makes having a black car easy?

My other black cars were similarly easy to take care of despite not being wrapped. Sure, I wash the car every two weeks or more, but it only really takes about 45 minutes.

Well no wrap or ceramic coating on mine. My area seems to be eternal road construction, no idea when it will ever finish, 2+ yrs and counting now, and no way to leave the house without going through it somewhere. And the water where I live is hard, so washing at home is a royal PITA because of water spots. I'm not a fan of dry washing, do not want to scratch paint. Oh well, no plans to move any time soon, so either I look at something extra like a wrap and/or ceramic coat on a new car, or just get something lighter color.

Because getting a color wrap that is half decent still costs about $4K to $6K. It'll look different, and subjectively I think it would look way worse (it's usually a vinyl wrap, not a nice painted on look). Or just wait a few months to get the right color for $1K over the white.

Yeah, I though about waiting, but I chose the pearl white instead. It was my second choice anyway. I just received a text from Tesla this morning for delivery on Monday @ 3.

Black is certainly the least selected color option but that alone doesn’t explain why there are ZERO black Model Y’s being delivered. As of today, out of 1311 Model Y orders that have specified exterior color in @Troy's spreadsheet, here is the breakdown by color selected:
39% Pearl White Multi-Coat
22% Deep Metallic Blue
19% Midnight Silver Metallic
11% Red Multi-Coat
9% Solid Black
