I tried Search, so I apologize if I missed it, but from the screen grabs published of the configurator, I could not tell if the standard 18" wheel is silver or black from the way both are shown. Does anyone know? Thanks in advance!

It's closer to black than silver. But I think it's a dark grey.

Thank you....the silver ones are the 19s in that case?

Man...the premiums do look better the closer you get to them. Just me?
I'm still talking myself into aero w/ red...this doesn't help though...think it's still going to be a game time call for me.

It's even nicer with the red calipers

Those black wheels are the only part of the car I find quite unattractive, but I'm not interested in reducing the tire sidewall height with larger wheels, although the silver 19s have a far more appealing design to me...hmmmm...wonder what the standard wheels would look like painted silver?

Ok - that's just not fair.

Guessing I would need to paint them calipers?

Also, there's the sort of duality with the aero wheels as you can pop off the covers. Wonder what red calipers would look like through those?
    Probably off or odd? Hmm

It's thought that the Aero covers come off and this is underneath:

Thanks, and I understand....hope you are right as those would be just fine with me on 18s.

Yeah, you'd barely see them with the covers on:

This was on another thread...what do you think the wheels on the red car are? They are neither of the ones we've seen in this thread so far but the sidewall suggests they are 18s and not 19s. Those would also be a fine standard wheel for me.

That is a Model S with what look like the now-standard 19" Silver Slipstream wheels.

Ha...no no. I meant standard wheel with Areo-covers off w/ red or bright orange calipers.

I'm not paying Tesla $1500 for the upgrade wheels, but i'm not going to drive around on the Aeros either. If those wheels are the Aeros without the covers i'll be getting a centre cap made up and throwing away the covers, otherwise i'll buy something aftermarket. couldn't give a fig about the 3% or whatever extra range the aeros might give.

I'm not getting too upset yet about the aero wheels. Someone at Tesla has said that the 18" wheels aren't finalized yet, and I hope that's right. Even then, there will probably be aftermarket choices.
