Blackviue 650 and "Key not in Car"

I have a Blackvue 650 with the front and rear cameras and it seems to interfere with my Keyfob. If I just have the front camera on there is no problem, however if I have the rear rear camera connected to the power in the front camera then sometimes the "Key not in car" message pops up. It is %100 reproducible, the dealer has checked the antenna's, the battery is good in the fob, I have switched fob's. Anyone else experience this. To make it go away all you have to do is disconnect the rear camera and no issues. I read the other blackvue threads and didn't see this. I know folks don't love them or there support just wanted to know if anyone else experienced this.

I had the Blackvue 650 installed a few weeks ago and have not experienced any issues with the Key Fob. I love the system and feel much better having it in case of another car accident. There may be a problem with the Wi-Fi feature of the front camera. Other than that, I can't think of what else may cause the interference.

OK thanks, i might have the installer change the location of the wire.

P85D;

I had mine (Blackvue 650 front and rear 2 channel with Wi-Fi and Power magic pro) installed on Saturday 3/7/15.

Same problem like yours. I was about to give a day or so to see if that will go away.

My installer:
Earmark Audio
Lewisville, Texas

I have to call the installer today and remind him that I am still having issues.

Thanks for sharing this. I was about to post a thread

P85D and bv650 here. I've had the "no key in car" message once. I've also had the handles not open when approaching the car. Never had this problem with the P85+ and a bv front-only camera. Next time (if there is a next time) I see the error message I'll try disconnecting the rear camera.

Wow--odd. Note that the old Blackvue 550 models had an issue with a poorly shielded coax from front to rear cameras causing bad interference on DAB radio systems (obviously an issue in EU). Blackvue came out with a better shielded cable a year or more ago, and I would have to assume that this is included in the newer 650 model. One thing to try is to get some snap on ferrite cores and add one to each end of the cable, and see if this reduces the RF interference.

You can go to the dash cam forums on line (BlackVue | DashCamTalk) and search the topic.

@Taurusking

Sorry to hear that you are having troubles. I have never experienced this issue in my identical setup. Please keep us posted how it turns out and how attentive earmark is to your issue. I am going to take my car back in to them tomorrow to have them check out my escort 9500ci that they installed Escort says that it seems to have a defective GPS unit.

I sent mail to my installer to see if we can try rerouting the wire from the front camera to the rear one. If that does not work I will see if we can replace the rear camera. Ill keep you guys up to date.

A question for all the 650 owners....do you have to regularly reformat the micro SD card? About once a week I have to do it, is there a way to avoid it?

According to Blackvue website and the manual...despite the size of the SD card you have to reformat it at least once a week and I plan on doing just that.

I am going to ask my installer the same thing...reroute the wire and don't put anything back until the key fob is checked. Then put everything back and check again...Let's see what happens

You don't have to be sorry. I will talk to Chris and Joe and see if they can re-route the wire.

I figured out the problem. If the installer cuts the shielded cable that connects the 2 cameras for running the cable, it will not be shielded any more and a ferrite core has to be put over the place where the splice was done. If you don't cut the 90 degree plug there will be no problems because it is shielded. Lots of installers cut cables with plugs to do long cable runs. They just don't realize that this is shielded. ferrite core cost me $3 and snaps over the splice point. case closed.
