I did the install today. Everything went really well! One suggestion I got from another video (Tesla Inventory Search guy) is to use 1/4 inch clear tubing instead of wire fishing rods. With the tubing, you can stick the DC power or coax end into the tubing and tape it up to make fishing the wires through easier. On step #15 I used a T15 Torx and it worked if anyone is worried they don't have a T16.

@Tech_Guy: Based on your feedback and others' I have modified the guide to reflect running the rear camera wire along the passenger side. If people are to follow, I want to make sure they do it right while avoiding any interference.

@arcus Already had my 650S-2CH installed...was challenging and could have used your walk through back then! Nice job.

Does anyone happen to know if the 750S has the same front camera as the 650S? Is it basically the same except the rear camera in the 750S been upgraded to a higher resolution? Same connectors and stuff so a 650S-to-750S swap could utilize same power and coax?

@CameronB The 750 front camera is larger slightly so you will have to replace the front mount otherwise the same power and video cables can be used

True. Luckily is just the new mount, so if you decide to upgrade it should not take more than few minutes.

For the 1/4 clear tubing you used, was it 1/4 ID or OD? Something like this (36") work? https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B000OMHI0E/

IMHO 1/4" ID would work better. The thinner the tube the better, there's really not much space in there.

Thanks! I've seen some folks suggesting to run it along the floor instead on a solid roof. I don't have any experience with that to advise you on details, though. Sorry.

I have no experience with full glass or solid roof, to be honest (just the panoramic one). I've seen that some people with solid roof prefer to run the wires through the A pillar down, then alongside the door seal. One would have to be extra careful not to mess with the airbag system when doing so.

The part involving the trunk/tailgate should be identical though.

A heads up for those with older Model S, my 2014 P85 doesn't have the auxiliary power connector in the microphone grill. You'll have to find another 12V source.

One question, and I apologize if it was covered in the video. I’ve heard that the side curtain airbags can be a concern. Do you address this and how to route cables around them?

@Buster1, the video is still in WIP stage, so for now I only have posted a step-by-step guide on my blog for read/print.

Yes, I have avoided messing with the airbags altogether. The cables are routed in the headliner, right under the panoramic glass.
