Has anyone installed a BlendMount Radar Detector Mount in their Model 3? If so, I'd love to see pictures of the install. Any and all information, help and pictures would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance! -Shane
Yes they do! I have one in my current vehicle for my Valentine 1, and I absolutely love it. I was more curious about how straightforward the install was, and how much / if any modifications are needed. Also, I wanted to see how it looks on the Model 3. Thank you for posting up. Cheers! -Shane
Blendmount’s website shows one designed for the Model 3 as being in production and available Q3 this year. I’m wondering if there will be a way to use that Blendmount once it’s sold and tap into the rear view mirror for power. I have an Escort Passport Max radar detector I’d like to use.
(Present community consensus; no inside info.) No switched 12v has been found in that area. There is a light-duty constant 12v that can be tapped for light loads, but for switched loads it's better to run a lead from the extra available output on VCLEFT.
There is power in the map light / speaker / hazard light module, maybe that's what you're thinking of.
I was told by a delivery center employee that I could void my warranty by tapping into the mirror. So I had a professional wire it directly to the battery (with fuses on both - positive and negative terminals. He attached a relay so the detector powers down when the car is not running. I’m very happy with the job he did - the wire is barely visible (tucked it behind the headliner).
Does anyone know if 2 BlendMounts will work on the mirror? Looking to mount my Valentine One & a BlackVue 900. Have called the sales # and left a message, but gotten no response back. Thanks
anyone else get the blendmount radar mount for the model 3? would love to see some pics. plus how you guys wired it up.
I asked BlendMount if it is possible to install both their radar and dash cam mount for a dual setup and they replied with "There is not enough room on the mirror stem of a Tesla Model 3 to fit both mounts. At this point in time, we do not have a method for using both devices at the same time."
I guess you haven't heard that firmware 40.xx.xx will have a radar detector / jammer function? They've managed to squeeze a few more features out of the on-board radar.
The blendmount is very expensive but very well built and looks super clean. Pic is with uniden R3. Still working on power and will install hardwire remote with mute in console with remote power cut off so I can discreetly mute or power radar right off.
debating on waiting on cyber monday or blackfriday to see if they have deal on blendmount.. does anyone have/use mirrormount or any of the generic versions?
I'm slowly piecing together the install of my Uniden R3 with the Blendmount. I have the Uniden remote kit which has a separate box with mute button, power led, and alarm led. The Uniden remote is a 3 cm x 2 cm box but finding a place to put it was a bit of a head-scratcher. So I decided to put together a 3d panel to mount in the console just behind the phone tray. Since I also have a wireless charging mat I thought I would incorporate additional USB power ports as well as a 12v socket. The panel will be the same width as the phone tray and the front of it will have 2 USB ports, Uniden remote, power swithc for Uniden, and 12v socket. The back of the panel will have 2 more USB ports to power the Qi mat. The panel will be mounted using magnets so I can pull it out if I need to reach behind it. Here's a 3D drawing of the panel.
