Still to far back to be useful. Even if the phone is not be 'used' while driving, many of us use Waze, Spotify, Pandora etc, that's why I can't use my center console; I just have the phone mounted on the dash. Unless someone is very disciplined, each time the phone notifies of something, many will be tempted to look down at the phone; at that point, this is no longer a safety feature. This is the same reason why most auto manufacturers now have the audio controls and status screens set as close to the windshield as possible.
Maybe Tesla will finally add support for Android Auto and Apple CarPlay which would allow the phone screen functionality on the 17 inch screen.

My Yukon has a Qi pad built into the armrest. I've taken trips where, while using Waze and Pandora, the battery actually drains because it's using more juice than the charger is adding.

I have an IPhone 6 and just got a great, inexpensive charger on Amazon that puts out 2.4A.. When using Waze this is the difference between fairly fast charging and the discharging that happened with my old car charger. Definitely worth picking up a 2.4A charger.

Why not just use Waze for Tesla on the big screen? I keep it running there all the time.

Anyone have issues plugging in their iPhone with a case into the blind holster on the X? My case is a Speck Candyshell and it wouldn't plug in deep enough. I did notice how you can adjust the depth from the wall to adjust for a thick case however you cannot adjust dongle height which prevents a phone from "clicking into" the charger.

I have a case on my Android and had to remove the "tabs". Here is a rough cut of what I did. Only issue is I need to find a way to keep it there when you accelerate hard.

My DS asked me ahead of time what kind of phone I would be using prior to me picking up my car. I have an iPhone 6 Plus and yet it wouldn't charge when in the center console. This weekend I took it apart to figure out what was going on. First whoever they had do the install of the adapter at the SC didn't know what they were doing. There are suppose to be rails on each side of the phone to keep it in place. There were no rails. I called my SC and they send out the extra parts and the other charging cable in case I want to charge.a Droid. In addition to not installing the rails they also didn't install the cord properly so whenever I would put my iPhone in place the charging extension would push dowm. They had not tightened the screws which hold the cable in place.

Now it works like a charm every time. I use the other cable to charge my wife's Samsung as it is the perfect length. I now just need to find a case which will work in the center console. I read on another post some case recommendations.

Has anyone had luck getting their iPhone with a case to make a snug connection to the blind holster? I'm still having issues where the iPhone will not plug in correctly to make a connection. I recall someone somewhere posting about how they fixed the problem and added vertical support to the lightning plug but cannot find the post.

I just picked up a Peel case for my 6S+ and it works great. I had been using the Apple leather case.

Found a solution to the issue I was having where a case prevented a connection due to vertical obstacles near the lightning connector on the blind holster. I purchased a lightning dock extender from Amazon and now my phone connects to the charger. To be honest, it's an annoying solution because I can not "blind" holster my phone. Every time I remove the phone, the extender leaves as well. It's more of a stopgap. Anyways, here's the link to the product on amazon. Link.

FYI: I found the quality of these extenders to be pretty poor. In fact, they usually come in packages of 2-3 because they know you'll go through them.

Curious if anyone who confirmed early and did not get the premium package has gotten the holder included recently.

I'm wondering if Tesla is honoring including the holder for those of us who confirmed while it was listed as part of the base model.

This was one of the first things I noticed when I picked up my car. I didn't have any iPhone plug. I asked my delivery specialist, and he said it was part of some Premium Package or something. Why couldn't he have just sold me one on the spot, I could have installed it myself!?

You can buy it for $50 from the Tesla Parts Department. I installed mine in a 90D. Works fine - I use the extender adapter that is Amazon since I use a case.
