Last Friday my key fob worked great. I was on 2019.12.1.1 for a few weeks. Going into the garage with my auto open doors set to on, the fob of course opened the door which I pushed closed. This happened once more and then the car decided not to do it again as usual, or so I thought.
Later that day I went to use the car and the fob only flashed the lights. No doors opened, no mirrors extending, no sounds, nada. I could not manually open any of the doors, frunk or trunk. After a few moments the lights went out too and the car was basically dead, like no fob was present.
Went back in and got the other fob and had the same behavior. Pulled the battery, put in a fresh one and nada. Same results.
Had to use the car that night to take a group to dinner so the phone app was put in service and it worked great but the whole time I expected an issue with my car not working at all and having to be towed.
When we got back I did all the three reset types and also a power off for 10 minutes. No change. Called Tesla Roadside hoping the could perform some sort of inquiry or remote reset. After being on hold for 20 minutes the answer was NO, "Take it to the service center then next day. They will need to reset the security system and/or reprogram the fobs."
I made an appointment but first available was 6 days out. I also called and left a message on the SC voicemail explaining my predicament and of course, nobody called me.
Yesterday I received a noticed for a new sw update (2019.16.3.2) and figured 'why not', the car does not work anyway. After the update I took my fob out to the car and low and behold it works just fine.
I doubt it was anything in the update that fixed my issue but the power off/reboot process that goes with the sw update. Clearly a deeper one than I could do via the UI.
