I just spent close to an hour figuring out the gallery was in Denver (*edit* and by Denver I mean Boulder). Guess I should have come here first.

On the other hand, I now know a lot more about the life of Nicola Tesla, where to get a lamb burger (beside's Kimbal's The Kitchen) in Denver and the lyrics to Rocky Mountain High.

    That price range is stunning.

When I first read about the Colorado tax rebates I chalked it up to a typo!

But I was just at the LA store where they confirmed. Colorado has a $42K (Forty two thousand dollar) tax rebate on the Roadster. Add in $7,500 from the Feds and you near have a half price car. I considered selling mine, moving to Denver for a year (why not?) and pocketing 30K.

Oklahoma is said to have similar incentives.

Hmm anyone from Colorado that want to sell a slightly used Roadster ? Using about $60k as the new price even I could probably afford a 1-2 year old model :)

My brother lives in Colorado. That roadster suddenly doesn't seem so unattainable...

I live in Denver and only recently began thinking about buying a Tesla. I was intrigued by the tax credit. It appears to be a credit towards state income taxes paid that can be carried forward for 5 years. CO has a flat income tax rate of 4.63% so doing a little math:

    $42,083 / 4.63% = $908,920

    $908,920 / 5 = $181,784

So, to realize the full tax credit, you would have to have an annual gross income of $181,784.

The statute is set to automatically repeal in 2016.

Kimbal includes video of the Roadster driving on snow. More reason to get that winter tire thing sorted.

Tesla's temporary gallery opening this Friday in Colorado — Autoblog Green

    tesla-gallery-boulder-630.jpg

I see this move as Tesla doing an all-out sales blitz that includes this temporary store to sell as many Roadsters as possible while there is still the huge discount on the car.

My take as well. It's a good idea to take advantage of it while they can.

Tesla Roadster for $67K in Colorado

    According to this website:

Want $42K Off A New Tesla Roadster? Call Your Colorado Cousin - Green Car Reports

Incidentally, I do have a cousin in Colorado. Maybe I should give him a call...

I can see this sort of thing getting shot down by angry voters though. It seems like something that happen these days. It's very exciting for anyone actually in Colorado and in the market for a roadster though.

Did this tax rebate suddenly become available or did someone just realise there was a big opportunity here?

It's been around for a number of years ... but there had been some confusion as to what "comparable" vehicle to use vis-a-vis the Tesla Roadster to establish the calculation and the size of the credit against your state income tax (not rebate -- a HUGE difference, considering the tax rate is 4.63% ). Now that the Colorado Dept. of Revenue has confirmed the size of the credit ... floodgates are open. Not much time left, though.
