I had been thinking of complaining that my brakes were getting soft. Well... a nice side-effect of my recent drive train failure is that Tesla also took the opportunity to replace my brakes. Apparently they are doing this for all Ontario and Quebec cars (and probably NE USA). The new pads are called HP1000-T, and they changed all of them. They also replaced my front rotors to a new "cold weather" type, and added a dust shield to the front brakes. They didn't need to change the rear rotors. I'm told the reason for the changes is that the calcium salt that is being spread on the roads was affecting the brakes. Newer cars already have the mods, and don't have an issue. As for the performance of the new brakes, I am very pleased. They work MUCH better than my old ones. If you haven't got this yet, you'll get it on the next annual. A big thumbs up to Tesla for doing this.
A couple of guys at our Southern Ontario Tesla Club meeting the other night mentioned this. I must have just missed out on this when my car was in for a week having the main contactors replaced.
No idea. Not sure it matters. If you don't have them they will update your car at the next service. They won't have time to get spongy.
