They work well for our needs so we are keeping them.
From the back, they cover most of the seat. The top two corners of each mat don't stick out too much from the original shape of the seat back. The first picture here makes it look more exaggerated due to the camera angle.
I can tuck the top connector into the crevice between the head of the seat and the rest of the seat body. It's a really tight fit so I don't think there will be much if any rubbing that would cause damage to the seat. If it looks like it's starting to rub too much, I might sew a long narrow tube from a silk or satin material to cover the nylon webbing. The buckle lays off to the far right side of the seat. I am short so it doesn't hit me anywhere that would bother me. The bottom connector is a really soft and stretchy elastic. There is also a plastic buckle piece on this part. Both connector straps are pretty well camouflaged against the black seats.
