Brief “Unable to Charge” warning

Just noticed that I’m getting a brief “Unable to Charge” warning when I plug into a HPWC. The message just shows for a couple of seconds, then charging begins normally.

It does not occur when Supercharging. It does occur at other HPWC (tested a nearby destination charger).

Is this an early sign of an onboard charger issue?

I think (I'm hoping?) it might be software related. For some reason, I've been getting it on both my Model X and Model S for the past couple of months.

Model X has even recently had its onboard charger replaced.

I'm actually glad to hear that someone else is seeing this.

I've seen this recently too (since about 2019.40.x). It seems to only pop up when I have scheduled charging set.

I'm also seeing this on a 2 week old 2020 Model X. I've definitely seen it using the 60 amp wall connector but it disappears in less than a second. But I think I've also seen it when supercharging although I'm not 100% certain.

I also notice it sometimes defaults to 47 amps instead of 48 amps.

Glad to hear others are seeing this too. I’m wondering if it’s normal and most people just don’t look at the screen after plugging in and miss it.

Same here. After the last update it started showing. There’sa lot of folks saying the same thing. Makes me think it’s software

I have noticed this issue in my 2020 MX 100D when I adjust the number of amps I allow the charger to charge at. Happens almost every time I change the amps away from 48

I see this warning as well when plugging into my HPWC. Assume it's a firmware problem.

I assumed it always did this for a second periodically. To be honest as long as it keeps charging when I am sleeping and is "full" when I need the car, I don't care

Yea I saw this and didn't make much of it since it only lasts for a second or two. Seems to charge fine after for any amount of time.

I see the same nag message for a brief second or so and only at home when I connect my HWPC . I started getting this nag message arount the same time as our most recent upgrades Ver. 10

I was at the service center getting a new charger port door and they said it's a bug and a lot of their cars are doing it.

good I guess that means they are working on removing the nag in the near future

Literally just saw this for the first time today....hopefully just a software bug like others suggested.

I get the same thing no matter where I plug in to charge. Either, "Unable to charge" or "AC charging Interrupted". I also recently saw, "Charge speed reduced"

FYI, the latest update (2020.12) seems to have cured this condition. No longer seeing the message

What software version are you on? I just got 2020.8.1.1 today and plugged in twice without seeing it anymore. Was on 4.1
