I had an appointment to pick up my 2016 Tesla Model S on Friday Dec 20th 2019 at noon. I drove from Pensacola FL to Decatur GA for the delivery. When I arrived to the showroom, no one was there to greet me. I went to service and was ignored so I went back upstairs. Someone showed up and asked have you been helped finally, I said no, he said what can I do and I said i'm here for a pick up. Taylor was the rep assigned to demo my car and he did a HORRIBLE job in doing so. He rushed my questions and kept saying for me to refer to the owners manual with questions. This is my first EV / Tesla and I saw this car for the first time and it was financed through BOA and paid for and insured when I first saw it. Getting info was like pulling teeth. He didn't demo the radio, had he done so he would have discovered the radio didn't work, along with nav audio, turn signal indicators, blue tooth phone and parking warnings. My phone was connected to to blue tooth and I answered with him in the car and there was no audio and he said hmmm and moved on. That was his chance to say, wait a minute. He never showed me how to open sunroof. I had to ask him how to open and lock car, and trucks. When I questioned him about front en damages he just looked at me. Before we left the lot I witnessed this idiot drive a brand new model 3 into a brick wall, so if you think Tesla isn't hiding damages on brand new cars, think again and now I know why. Their delivery specialists are morons.

I was promised that defects on the car condition would be disclosed and photographed. Since I bought the car based on their photographs and a clean car report. I discovered significant rock damage to the front end, head lights, windshield and front turn signals, hood and bumper, NONE of which was disclosed in photos. There is a major series of scratches on the drivers side door and back to passenger door mid way up car. These should have been photographed and shown and disclosed and they were not. You promised a " Every used Tesla vehicle has passed a 70-point inspection and comes with either a 4-year or 50,000 additional mile warranty or a 2-year, up to 100,000 total mile warranty. "

    Ordering a Used Tesla

This car clearly was not inspected as it didn't have a functioning audio system.

Above are the photos I bought the car from and that you put enough faith in for me to buy it sight unseen.

I was allowed to drive away with no test drive with damage to front end and a few miles later I discovered a non functioning audio. I called Katie Crabb, who I never met at my delivery and she was my "Delivery Specialist" She had me do a soft reset on car and said it audio didn't come back, to bring it back.

So we drove car back and Matt Settharath offered to help us since he was in the parking lot putting out FIRES, LITERALLY! Yes fire truck and fireman on the Tesla lot.

The rep "Taylor" pretended to not know who we were or ask how he could help.

They took car into service and said they would check it out, they thought no sound was a bug, then a tuner then a entire computer.

Fast forward to 630pm (6.5 hours later) the navigation maps were still not uploaded and we were turned loose. We drove to Newnan GA to finish maps update.

We saw Taylor again and not only did he ignore us and pretend still not to know who we were, we asked for help and he said he was off the clock.

The Next morning Sat Dec 21st the maps upload were complete but no audio AGAIN!

I texted Katie and Matt my concerns. They said it was out of their hands.

    Good luck in Decatur folks

OH man, I'm sorry you had to deal with that. Buying used is definitely not as easy as it is supposed to be. I also bought used last year so I know your pain. Although my issues were not as severe as yours, I had damage similar to yours (paint/windshield) and I was told that it was normal "wear and tear" and not subject to repair. They did fix my rear bumper which was cracked during delivery, so that was nice. The best thing to do is just keep emailing your delivery specialists and be insistent about your issues. I can tell you that the exterior stuff might not ever get addressed but your audio issue will be corrected. If you have a local service center drive their and talk with them, in person, about the issue and I think it will get taken care of. Good luck, once you get passed the initial shock of all of the delivery issues you will love the car.

That sucks about the audio system. That's an obvious problem that should have been caught. I had a few non-critical issues with my car on delivery, but they were taken care of post delivery under warranty. The car looks clean in those pictures. Can you share pictures of the damage? My car also had a handful of tiny rock chips and small scratches, but keep in mind that these are used cars to begin with.

Totally unacceptable. I hope all of your concerns are remedied.
I have been fortunate to have overall good experience with delivery and subsequent service at Raleigh NC SC, other than typical frustration difficulties with communication.

Sorry about your perceived experience. It's not a great way to get introduced to your new car.
But, you were expecting a LOT more than is normally provided, even for a new car. There is not a step by step that they carry you through every system in the car. Tesla has a number of videos that should describe many of the functions. And well, the audio system has changed features in the last few releases, so the video wouldn't have been 100% correct.
You bought a USED CAR. You did not buy a CPO. Used cars have faults, they have damage. Yes, there was a lot of blind faith in buying it.
I don't think that the points of the 70 point inspection have been publicized, but I suspect that they have more to do with the basic safety of the car than anything else.

The OP probably wasn't aware so it's probably not a valid argument for him, but Tesla DID provide it for new cars, back when they were delivering 12k vehicles a quarter instead of 120k. Likewise, ICE dealers still do the walkthrough of every single detail (at least they did for me last year) so expecting the same from Tesla without any prior dealings would not be unexpected.

Even my abbreviated delivery (my flight came in early and I was in the SC over an hour before my scheduled delivery) I received more attention than the OP. I was already somewhat familiar with the car, but he went over the basics of setting mirrors, steering wheel, Slacker, driver profiles, and autopilot. It took 10 minutes or so.

Me too, my delivery guy was very nice and very thorough. At one point I told him that he could go and I would just figure it out on my own. I just wanted to DRIVE IT!!

There was when I bought my car, but that was years ago. That was the Delivery Specialists job along with paperwork.
Turn up the audio to 11 and leave it that way when you drop it off next. I've found that it takes 3-4 appointments before Tesla even looks at things lately, they might have forgotten to chreck the audio and just marked it as "can't duplicate" but if you set it to 11, they will have to turn it down. If it's still at 11 when you pick it up, they didn't check.

    The whole experience sounds horrible.

Still, I would test that it’s not a weird interaction with your phone (my iPhone 6 used to try and initiate calls for no reason that muted all other audio).

Power down your phone or stash it inside. Do the two scroll wheel reset (hold them both down until screen goes blank, release and wait for everything to boot).

    Then try the audio..,
