Burning smell

My tesla three has a burning smell after charging during the night. Has anyone had that experience?

Where exactly do you think the smell is coming from? The car's battery? The charge port? Or could it be your EVSE (wall charger/mobile connector)?

If it's coming from the car - call Tesla. If it's coming from the house, call an electrician ASAP.

You are in a MUCH better position to determine where it is coming from and localize than anyone on the internet.

I had a strange smell in the early months of my July 2018 LR RWD. It was the rubber hose of a 12 v tire pump in the rear sub-trunk.

A lot of people charge their vehicles on substandard electrical lines. The Tesla portable EVSE is pretty smart. It can detect heat and electrical faults and shut itself off, or reduce amperage when it finds an unsafe situation. It actually alerted me of a major voltage drop this summer (I was seeing 100V in the house some days.) The electric company took quick action to fix that situation for myself and my neighbors.

We don't really know anything about the OP situation, since they withheld a lot of important details.

For 14-50 outlets make sure you have # 6 wire and Hubbell type outlets.

Charge at a lower amperage and see if the smell goes away. If it does it MIGHT suggest a wiring capacity issue for the charging station. You could also find an alternative level 2 indoor charging station to see if the problem replicates.

That’s usually dust and such built up on the PTC heater. It’s like starting a furnace at home after sitting dormant all year - the dust has to cook a little.

Totally normal - but after the first few starts for the year, it should be done.
