Buyer Beware: Misleading descriptions in sale of used "Signature" Model S, P02618

This site may earn commission on affiliate links.
As a mildly interested (but perhaps overly informed :p) party, I was going to send them an e-mail recommending (yet again?) that they strongly consider addressing the mistitled listing.

I (re)navigated to the link in the original post and now observe that they have removed "Signature" from the listing.

So apparently someone got through to them finally. Hurray!

Maybe "[Fixed]" should be added to the thread title.

Starwood Motors uses a 3rd party software company to maintain our inventory on online listing sites. This software decodes the Vehicle Identification Number automatically and reported that the vehicle had the signature package. We are aware of this situation and are now disclosing to any and all interested parties that this equipment is not on this vehicle. We have notified the 3rd party company of this situation and they are working to resolve the situation. The Pano roof and CF Spoiler were included in the written description and that was an accidental mistake. The employee of Starwood Motors was not familiar with the verbiage used by Tesla within the build spec sheet. We have access to this sheet and prior to the car arriving these two options were listed on the build spec sheet in a way that appears to show they were included, although it does mention that they were excluded. We corrected this error as soon as we became aware of the mistake.

On February 27th 2014, a senior specialist from the Dallas-based Tesla service center provided an instructional overview on the Tesla Model S to Starwood's staff. Highlights of the training included an overview of operating systems, performance information, and a hand-on 'owner's look' at the Model S.

Starwood Motors company policy is to all provide full and accurate disclosure of the actual equipment on each listing. We pride ourselves in providing complete customer satisfaction and apologize for the error that we are experiencing with our listing software. We are working to resolve this issue and in no way do we intend to mislead anyone.

Three cheers!!! HIP-HIP-HURRAY!
But one complain:
The employee of Starwood Motors was not familiar with the verbiage used by Tesla within the build spec sheet.
It really doesn't take much effort to call up Tesla to ask what a Signature series is or do an easy search by typing "What is a Tesla Model S signature series". Every link pretty much tells you it is the first 1,000. It took the crowd of a large forums to finally attract your attention. This employee never decided to mention it to any other staff member or go above and beyond his comfort zone to figure out what a Tesla Model S owner told him was evidently true?? If so this employee is not much of a employee at all; sounds like a large paperweight to me. And if the employee did mention it to a senior staff member, it took more than a week and a large forums to attract your attention.

Pitiful.

Starwood Motors:

Appreciate your post here, but your MS is still showing up on cars.com as a "Signature Performance" now more than 2 weeks after you were alerted to these errors.

Could you please advise them of the correction as well?

Thank you for clearing this up.
