Im looking at buying a Tesla off craigslist from a local guy. Would Tesla check the car for me if I brought it in to their service station? If not, what is the best way to check to see how reliable the car is?

Tesla won't do anything for you concerning the vehicle until it's officially yours. As far as "reliability" is concerned, that's a total guess since you haven't provided much information about the vehicle. It'll be certainly challenging to assist you with any major issues since this is only a forum, but these things might help a little: model; year; mileage; battery pack; etc..
