AVTA has recently committed to replacing their fleet with 85 BYD electric buses.

BYD Expands Factory to Ramp Up Electric Bus Production
"The factory is nearly tripling its size, expanding from 150,000 to 440,000 square feet. An additional 700 workers will support production of as many as 1,500 battery-electric buses annually, a tenfold increase in output from when it first began building e-buses there in 2013."

Is this really the only BYD EV bus thread? The potential impact of this exploding market is well documented in various Investors Forum threads, but wanted to call something out in a dedicated thread.

Tesla's now quoting a "million miles" for pack like expectations. Do we think this "lifespan" will soon become the new warranty standard from Chinese battery manufacturers? If so, that's basically the last barrier to absurd EV bus adoption. Overall costs go waaaaay down when you can rely on swappable battery packs for 1M+ miles.

I've been to China where BYD busses and taxis are very common in some cities. For example Shenzhen is 100% electric busses now.

Very impressive machines. I read that the larger battery packs are up to 450kWh. Must have some hefty charging for that.

The taxis were nice too. Had a ride in a couple, seemed to have fairly large batteries based on us driving like a typical maniac taxi for half an hour and using 5%. They both had over 80k km on them but were comfortable and seemed well made. Windows open so couldn't tell how the noise was.
